Teri Lane was born a Midwesterner with a Southern Gentleman swing. Raised in the south by musical parents—father played rhythm guitar as well as sang and danced and Mother was a singer/songwriter/pianist—Teri had no choice but to become the dynamic all around entertainer that the world has come to love and respect.
With his travels throughout the world, from Georgia to Australia, New York to Japan, and New Orleans to Great Britain among other places, Teri has become an accomplished songwriter who is able to break past age and racial barriers. He is a consummate entertainer for the masses. His prowess will dazzle you, and put you in a trance as you watch him perform on stage.
As well as his parents, Teri attributes a large variety of entertainers, such as James Brown, Prince, Pat Benatar, The Time, Aretha Franklin, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Parliament-Funkadelic, Mahalia Jackson, and many others as influences on his life and career. This is why you can hear a little rock and country mixed with some funk, gospel and blues in each of his songs.
As an original member of the New Jack Swing group, Basic Black, Teri learned the ins and outs of the entertainment industry. BET was so impressed with Teri’s songwriting ability and showmanship that they offered to produce his first album. Unfortunately, that was not to happen. During the negotiations, his mother became very ill and he abandoned his dream of becoming a recording star to take care of her.
Although Teri Lane has not recently been on stage, he has been busy behind the scenes as a producer, songwriter, chorographer, movie scriptwriter ("Diggville"), and manager for some of our future up and coming stars. Teri’s return to music as an entertainer is from his desire to change the longitude and latitude of the industry, to show that as long as the music is good and the show is great, we can all come together as one.
With strength of faith, determination of mind, skills and an infinite sexiness, Teri Lane is an Entertaining Dream that you can not sleep on.
