"ROCKPAGES REVIEW"

"I am going to start with the lead vocals, since this is what amazed me from the first moment. It is a voice pithy and 'thick', compact and full of power. There are a lot of falsetto while the vibrato is almost operatic. On the other still has lots of burr and is able to rock with distinctive comfort! The band from Athens, comes to propose its own things around the Metal with lyrical elements, and I think this is a pure Metal band with some Progressive elements. The style is epic and majestic, with very melodic choruses, but you will also hear some Doom metal here and there. "Cage of sins" features such elements as an example ...

The theme of the album is dark, it is purely metal and have a shiny black glow. The band mantion as their influences bands like Fates Warning, Queensryche, reaching up to Thin Lizzy and Alice In Chains ... I, for my part would like to add that I heard Sanctuary as Lethal.

The ten minute "Efialtes" is a different story in itself. There are verses in Greek ... Flirting with the Phrygians and Greek words ... In my ears, it sounds strange. Not that I have not heard Greek language in metal, it just seems to me always a strange combination. Well done and tried, it is a nice experiment and a more interesting subject for conversation. This is actually one of the most epic songs of the album, perhaps the most epic.

We hope a lot of success to the band and renew our appointment for the next time they will perform live. I want to see them on stage now!"

"BLEEDING.DE REVIEW"

"TERRA INCOGNITA is a new band from Athens, which released "Barren Land" as their debut album. And even if the four men with blackened eyes do look bad from the band photo, just by listening to the influences of the band realized that not quite fit into the image: Queensrÿche, IRON MAIDEN and DREAM THEATER are cited as inspiration.

And "Barren Land" sounds like as a dark Iron Maiden, with Blaze Bayley on the mic, one can take "X Factor" as a guide. The blend fits like hand in glove: Guitar tootling in the best sense, bleak riffing, sweeping, slightly more complex compositions and with Billy Vass, a singer who sounds like the good Blaze Bayle , with the only difference that he has a much greater vocal range . Therefore, one can say with complete justification, that ranks with "Barren Land" from hymn to hymn. As 'Lost In Love' (horny solo) are, or the final title-track, consisting of 'Terra Incognita', which called the 'Intro (Barren Land)' is introduced. Most challenging and interesting is the long 'Efialtes' which is sung to a large part in Greek and convinced as the rest of his melodic guitar passages.

You learn to appreciate the unique sound and yet very beautiful guitar passages that are addicting. Overall, a good record, especially when you consider that it is a self-production."

"TERRA INCOGNITA-BARREN LAND REVIEW"

‘Barren Land’ is a record that needs a few spins to be fully understood. At first, the almost opera-like singing of Billy Vass will strike you. And it does not always strike you in a good way. Some high-pitched vocals do not sound as good as they should. But after a few spins you will hear things from Terra Incognita that are very positive. The Greek heavy metal band with the symphonic influences has a very good guitarist in the ranks with Dimitris Stavros. Something that comes across well on the guitar-driven ‘Distorted’. Also opener ‘Outcome’ is such a track, but on top of the good riffs there is a great rhythm as well. On songs like ‘Lost In Love’ and especially on the ten minute, epic song ‘Efialtes’ the band lets us hear their symphonic side. The songs are performed well and due to the excellent production we can enjoy this performance to the fullest. The band honors their heroes Iron Maiden, Riot, Rage, Queensrÿche and Dream Theater that way. To be honest, the record does not consist of highlights only, which makes the attention slip away every once in a while. But, if you make the effort to listen to this record from beginning to end for a couple of times, you will notice there are enough elements which will be satisfying for the heavy and symphonic metal fan.

Led by the charismatic New York native front-man Billy Vass, Terra Incognita is a band treading waters in a multitude of metal sub-genres. The band manages to blend them together seamlessly generating a unique and unmistakable sound, mesmerizing, impressive, forceful. With a firm base of classic melodic metal at their core, the band's unique fusion of progressive, epic and atmospheric elements is accented and enhanced by the inclusion of dark and doom themes throughout their compositions and lyrical subjects.

Terra Incognita was born in 2010. Their inaugural album was received favorably by the music press - including Metal Hammer. Terra aired their first music video soon after that, and were picked by Metal Breed Records USA for a regular international release. Since then the band has been touring extensively, playing numerous live shows characterized by the kind of energy and power that leaves the band's fans always coming back for more.

The band’s first album - aptly titled “Barren Land” to fit the desolate themes that were so applauded by the press reviews - has now been re-released internationally. "Barren Land" has been specifically mastered for digital distribution by Dr. Makis Tselentis, on iTunes™ (Digital LP™ format), Amazon MP3™, eMusic™, Zune™ and Google™ Play, by Metal Breed Records USA. Look out for Terra's forthcoming second album, coming out very soon!
