Bio
Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Terrance Hunt had
a very musical childhood. Growing up, his house echoed with the sounds of Marvin
Gaye, Bob Marley, Ray Charles, The Jackson Five in addition to all forms of
Gospel introduced daily by his grandmother. “I was raised on the songs that of speak pain,
love and everyday life,” he says.
The pivotal moment as an artist begins at age 11, after a
near fatal car accident resulted in permanent physical injury. Learning to
overcome these new challenges introduced him to a new form of expression:
poetry. Soon after, poetry turned into rap verses. Written with influences of
artists such as Nas, Notorious, Tupac, Hot Boys and Jay Z. coupled with a
burning desire to perform, Terrance would take every opportunity to polish his
craft - family reunions, local bars and open mic nights.
Rapidly music became the main pillar in his life and Terrance decided to pursue his love and passion for music by attending music production courses at AIMIU (Art Institutes Miami International University). There, he met Mario Lacava and Manuel Reta, founders of the indie record label, Raw Entertainment, which eventually signed Terrance. As a team, the idea was simple: create music that moved them and inspired them to share it with the world. “The writing process is very crucial. As an artist I can’t allow myself to create garbage. I keep in mind that whatever is created in the studio represents both Raw as a company and me as an artist. Each bar that I compose has to have meaning.”
Terrance’s deeply multi-layered lyrics are continuing to push Hip-Hop’s boundaries. “My music is very unique, it is different from what people are used to because it tells the truth and speaks about the problems in life most people overlook.” Recent singles include, “One Life” (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/one-life-single/id828521786 ) unveils the inside perspective of Terrance’s experience and conveys that challenges can also be an inspiration. “Girls Talk” (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/girls-talk-single/id828521785 ) speaks of female drama, and the innuendo filled track, “Mary J.” which features up and coming rapper, Rakan, in addition to remixes from Miami Bass Legends, Bass Mekanik and Billy-E https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mary-j-feat.-rakan-single/id867357272.
