Bio

There are individuals whose life calling is evident, and almost immediately, their purpose is clear. Terrell Hunt is certainly one who was destined to praise and worship God. That has truly been witnessed by the world on the debut release of Hunt’s latest CD entitled, “Awesome”.

The revelation of his musical gifts began to unfold at the age of 7. His future ordination as a Music Minister, evidenced by his advanced vocal ability and true love for music ministry, raised the eyebrows and interest of all those around him. Emerging from a family overflowing with singers, choral conductors, musicians, songwriters, studio engineers, producers, recording artists, and even pastors, it was inevitable that Terrell would follow a path of carefully ordered steps. It wasn’t long after his first solo, “I’m So In Love With Jesus” at his home church, Bladensburg SDA, that he began sharing the stage and ministering with gospel greats, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Lamar Campbell, Vickie Winans, Karen Clark-Sheard, Tramaine Hawkins, Daryl Coley, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Amos Saint Jean, CeCe Winans, BeBe Winans, Marvin Sapp, Vanessa R. Williams, Fred Hammond, Beverly Crawford, JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, James Fortune & FIYA, Jonathan Nelson, Stephen Hurd, and the list goes on.

Terrell’s anointed gift eventually afforded him the opportunity to travel internationally and perform concerts across the globe. At the age of 10, Hunt recorded with his world-renowned Pastor, Wintley Phipps, along with New Genesis, the adult gospel choir of Capitol Hill SDA Church in Washington, DC, on Pastor Phipps’ CD, “The Sun Will Shine Again”. During that time, Terrell became a member and lead vocalist for the DC Boys Choir under the direction of Ann Foster, with whom he performed the African National Anthem for, and shook hands with Nelson Mandela during his visit to Washington, DC - a true life-changing experience for Terrell.

As a young solo artist coming into his own, Terrell has performed and ministered with many gospel industry icons and has accomplished much including singing duets with Vickie Winans and Karen Clark-Sheard for a 13 show run of the highly acclaimed Evangel Cathedral Christmas Production in 2003, and again as a guest artist in 2008 along with Marvin Sapp. Taking on the acting stage and co-starring with Daryl Coley, Joey Kibble of the GRAMMY Award winning group Take 6, Paul Heflin, and Monique Steele in the gospel musical stage play “War Games”, was another career-shaping experience for Terrell. “Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and performing with some of Gospel’s finest. God has placed me on some platforms I never imagined”, recalling his international tours including London, England, Paris, France, Bermuda, Trinidad and Tobago and most recently a European tour in France and Italy in February 2009 as a featured guest artist with saxophonist extraordinaire David Murray and the David Murray Singers.

Terrell’s ministry has now matured into a full-grown Levitical movement for the building, enrichment, and advancement of God’s Kingdom. Ordained Music Minister, Worship Leader, Recording Artist, Songwriter, Producer, Vocal Coach, Music Ministry Leadership Training Consultant and Entrepreneur are just some of the many hats worn by Terrell these days. But Terrell’s main focus, chief joy, and love is ministering to the people of God through music. It is his goal as a contemporary Levite, one who has been chosen to carry the ark (I Chron.15:2), to create an atmosphere conducive for the manifest presence of God, and usher the people of God into His presence. To this end Terrell’s long-awaited debut recording project of original Praise and Worship music written and arranged by Hunt and producer Amos Saint Jean entitled “Awesome” was released in the summer of 2007 on the RichEscape Music label. Hunt went on to become a 2009 Stellar Award nominee in the Best New Artist category, and was afforded the opportunity to perform on the taping of the nationally aired show. Hunt most is excited about his latest Christmas release entitled “My Gift to You” released in December 2009 and is in preparation now for the live recording session for his upcoming release entitled “Flowing River” – the live recording in the Fall of 2010.

Terrell is the President and CEO of Terrell Hunt Ministries, Inc., comprised of: NuPsalms Productions, Inc., - a songwriting, vocal and music production house, ArkBearers International, Inc., – a music ministry leadership training and consulting firm for Worship Leaders and Music Ministers and Generation Alive!, Inc., – a non-profit organization with a powerful and proactive mission to provide foundational development through mentoring and tutoring academically deficient youth in the greater Washington, DC/Metropolitan area and abroad who are gifted and talented in the performing arts.
