I am a very stylistic singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist who performs solo. My music is rooted in melodic, blues based songwriting that pretty much encompasses bits here and there of nearly all genres.

Biography

Born in small town America (in the midwest), I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, all the great Motown songwriters and basically, the wonderful music of the 1960's. In time, I traced back all my favorite music to those who had influenced the artists who were infuencing me and discovered Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, as well as, Bach, Mozart and so many countless others. Thus, from an early age, I always listened to music from the perspective of the songwriter- how did they do that? Why did they go up there or down there? Why did they modulate a key change or alter the time signature and so on.
Moving to Manhattan at the age of 22, I began a more systematic and/or urban approach to my songwriting, avoiding anything I considered hackneyed or overly sentimental. I have sinced lived most of my life in the New York metropolitan area where I gig as often as I can.
I have also written several screenplays and a full-length, R-rated musical called, Topless Lady. My current set list includes some of the material from, Topless Lady, as well as, songs from my vast catalog of music, including pieces from my CD, Bicycle Dreams (2005) and a few covers that I have played so much, it is almost as though I had written them myself. I am currently writing material for a new, as of yet, untitled CD and developing an animated musical based on a little known Russian fairy tale.
