Lord have mercy. The blues is alive and well and living in Orange County. We may not have the rock bands we used to but we sure have the blues. Tonight's show was almost like a festival with so many strong acts appearing on the bill. The show opened with that Mississippi guitar slinger Terry Lee Poole.
This Laguna Beach blues brother came on strong playing songs from his latest CD "Eat You Alive" on Bluebone Records. Terry played with determination, style and finesse. Songs like "Shoe Shine Boy", "Down in New Orleans" and my personal favorite "Honey Buns", stood out with his personal touch. Terry Lee Poole is the blues to the third degree. His mojo is working and sure worked on the audience tonight. Watch for an interview with Terry Lee Poole in a future issue of Live Magazine. - Craig Hammons
His album of originals includes Johnny "Guitar Waton's "Gangster of Love." TErry Lee Poole lights a fire on each of his eleven tracks - a fire fueled by his blazing guitar. Singing of contemporary topics, the bandleader gets a big sound that fills the room. His guitar packs emotion the same way his vocal interpretations do. You can't sit still when Poole turns it loose. Jumpin' and Swingin' with bass, keyboards and drums, the singer/guitarist follows a popular line. By overdubbing his own voice on several tracks and adding backup singers to a few others, he's emphasized on harmony of R&B an dpop hits. And yet Poole retains a southern blues tradition. From Mississippi, he's inherited the necessary ingredients.
No need for any hot sauce on your plate. Poole has already taken care of that. - Jim Santella-Blues Magazine
The evening started off with
New Orleans guitar slinger Terry Lee Poole. It was a pleasant surprise to see this blues amn back on stage again. He is on the road promoting his dynamic new BlueBone Records, "Eat You Alive". A tasty mixture of heavy blues and R&B (see CD review). He opened with the title track, a down south blues tune with a Voodoo feel to it. Terry Lee's blistering leads make you think this boy may have been to the CRossroads and sold his soul to the devil. He then went into the classic track "Shoeshine Boy" from his 1991 debut. This is a blues shuffle that gets down and funky. "Down in New Orleans" was next, a soulful pure blues tune that let's Terry Lee play some cclean and crisp licks.
Terry Lee Poole plays some electrifying blues. Ever since his older sister gave him a copy of the first Hendrix album, he knew he had to play the blues. Terry Lee Poole is true to his roots and influences. He ended the show by going off on Hendriz's "Third Stone From The Sun", a nod to the man who changed his life. The live show is one not to be missed and be sure to pick up "Eat You Alive" by e mail - terryleepoole1.com. A cold one, some gumbo, and Terry Lee Poole will make you whole again. - Craig Hammons, Live Magazine

Bio
Terry Lee Poole is one of the most electrifying blues guitarists you'll ever hear. A mixture of heavy blues and R&B, Terry Lee creates a new category of music designed to knock you off your feet. He made music a prioirty in his life at a very early age. Growing up in Mississippi instilled a great fondness and deep understanding of this brutally honest music called the blues. And you know after listening to his music, that Terry Lee is the "Real Thing". His influences include BB King, Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, and Eric Clapton, but over the years, his style has become his very own...powerful and soulful...blues at its best!
