""Illusions" Reviewed by RadioIndy.com!"

Terry Lynn Tschaekofske and his debut solo album, “Illusions,” is a collection of songs in which he lets his expert guitar playing be placed center stage. The album is recorded using a variety of guitars; numerous types of sublime electric and acoustic sounds are featured on different tracks, yet on each track Terry is not accompanied by other instruments at all. He wants the listener to calmly take in the subtle and nuanced sounds of his prized instrument. On the song, “Who Was She,” we hear an electric guitar slowly croon a love song. The song “Santa Cruz Lady,” features an acoustic guitar employing a more upbeat sound with a slight blues influence. On the track, “Inamorata Mirage,” we hear Terry's smooth double picking as he plays what comes off as a pleasing antiquated melody. This album is wonderful for relaxing and reflective moments; when one is curled up by the fire or to have playing nicely in the background for a family BBQ. If you enjoy tranquil yet talented music or simply are a fan of instrumental guitar compositions than “Illusions” is an album that you would enjoy hearing.

Bio

Many people have used the word "Beautiful" to describe the instrumental solo acoustic guitar styling that I play. Blending the styles of jazz, blues, folk, rock and classical, with a high energy feel I am able to create a fusion of beautiful contemporary new age sounds. Melodic harmonies that are sometimes lively, other times mellow, always exciting. I perform original solo guitar compositions as well as a few select stimulating arrangements of classic pop songs.

Active as a musician since early childhood, I started my musical training on the flute, which I played for several years before beginning my training on what is my primary instrument today, the guitar. As a private instructor I have given thousands of lessons to eager students. I have performed in numerous rock and blues bands in Utah and Northern California since 1988. In 2002 I began my solo career, currently I am busy promoting my debut solo CD Illusions.

Long ago before I had began my music training, my elementary school class went on a field trip to see the symphony. The conductor speaking before the performance told us that what we were about to hear was different than the pop music we were use to, the music would be instrumental. He told us that even though there were no words to the music, there was definitely a story being told by each song. He explained that music does not have to have words to tell stories, express emotions or ideas. I always thought that was a fascinating concept, stories without words.

As I began my solo career I composed songs with that thought in mind. All my songs represent a story, emotion or idea. Like many artists I receive inspiration from my personal life. My titles all reflect an event in my life, but are universal enough to make a connection with many people. So my music represents my stories without words. It is my sincere hope they touch an emotional chord.
