"Zach's CMJ Day 2: The Glazzies, Bird Dog, Owel, Controller and Tesha"

New York-via-Israel musician Tesha closed the evening a few blocks away at Fat Baby. Before a wall that had pictures of such hip-hop masters as Tupac, the computer-decked artist dipped into subtly moving fantasias of skipping beats and sputtering synths, almost holding time in a bewitchingly nocturnal instant and then releasing it back into the wee hours of the morning. - Zach Weg - Zach Weg

"New to NYC from Israel: Tesha brings her stylish synth pop to CMJ"

New to NYC, from Israel: Tesha's brings her stylish synth pop to CMJ

Few things are more effective in grabbing our attention than really good press pictures, and Israeli electronic chanteuse Tesha - who recently moved to NYC - sure knows a thing or two about that. But looks are irrelevant if not supported by good music, and, in this case, support was found. Tesha plays a stylishly cinematic, vaguely jazzy form of synth pop, reminiscent of some of the less trippy trip hop bands like Lamb and Morcheeba, but entirely her own. Her voice is confident and full of character, and her comfort zone is in the downtempo side of things, which opens space for the creative electronic arrangements. On her Bandcamp profile you'll find an instrumental single and a three song EP, entitled "Crystallization," both released in 2014. We paricularly enjoyed opening track "Over the Edge" (streaming). We have three opportunities to catch her live this week within the CMJ music marathon. - The Deli

"tel aviv's tesha is a breath of fresh air"

TESHA (Neta Tia Elias) is a singer, producer and musician originally from Tel Aviv based in New York City. As soon as you hear her airy voice, you'll feel like you're being whisked away into some sort of blissful vortex. Today, NYLON is premiering her latest single, "Bathe In White." The track is featured on her debut album DREAMS VOL.1, which was also produced by Noam Helfer, mixed by Roi Avital and mastered by Matt Colton. "This is my weird utopian and psychedelic dreamt up love story," TESHA told us in an email. "A formless, endless and unconditional love story. My new album is composed of eight theatrical acts, in which the listener experiences a movement from dark to light within a dreamlike reverie. I like to call it dream vomit, regurgitations of my vivid dreams and lucid nightly visions." - Nylon

Tel Aviv’s Tesha premieres the psychedelic, “So Alive” with us.

“This is my weird utopian and psychedelic dreamt up love story,” says Neta Tia Elias, “a formless, endless and unconditional love story. My new album is composed of eight theatrical acts, in which the listener experiences a movement from dark to light within a dream-like reverie. I like to call it dream vomit, regurgitations of my vivid dreams and lucid nightly visions.”

Blissfully trippy, Tesha’s swelling track “So Alive” burns with restrain. Her voice is a controlled whisper, husky and soft against the lapping beats and bubble-popping background sounds. With suitably poetic inspirations, from the American Beat Movement, Japanese classical music and her own dreams, “So Alive” will most likely be soundtracking your own. Sharing her time between NYC and Tel Aviv, Tesha announced her debut album at Art Basel this year and we can’t wait.

"LISTEN Tesha – So Alive"

“Instead of doing drugs I sleep a ton and when I sleep I hallucinate. Some of which proves to be practical and when it is I write about it.” Artfully blurring the lines between dreams and reality, Tesha ruminates on her modus operandi for “So Alive”, her latest creation from her upcoming EP — Dreams Vol. 1.

Originally hailing from Tel Aviv, this present day New Yorker has beautifully crafted a hypnotic soundtrack of psychedelic bliss. Drawing inspiration from vivid dreams, the debut single “So Alive” explores lush rhythms and wistful melodies that are both familiar and unknown. "WHAT’S IN YR FRIDGE, TESHA?"

NYC Tel Aviv producer TESHA shares her new single and the inner workings of her mind.

When producer Tesha reached out to us she apologized firstly. “<3 I don’t have a house, I left my home 8 months ago and have been a traveling nomad ever since. I feel like a fool, a queen, a flower and nothing at all, so instead i am going to take you on a tour to my head….where everybody’s everlasting home is<3″

We are the ones who might apologize, for not sharing Tesha’s new seraphim-track sooner. “So Alive” is breathy, elevated, swelling with lush synthetic chords (yes, an accessible flourish nowadays) but it swiftly hearkens back to a more sparse, and more subtle, clean-guitar driven lead, something reminiscent of Radiohead’s mid 2000s In Rainbows-era. Not a bad memory maker then, and for Tesha, not a bad memory to re-explore today. - Flaunt Magazine

"Tel Aviv’s Tesha has graced the public with fearless tunes"

Tel Aviv’s Tesha has graced the public with fearless tunes. Her original tracks are a mix of electronic melodies and a seductive voice; influenced by America’s beat movement and classical Japanese music. In 2015, Tesha’s two singles, Bathe in White and So Alive, received rave reviews.

Tesha (Neta Tia Elias) is an all-around creative superstar! The artist writes, composes and produces her own music. Her captivating lyrics and theatrical appearance are inspired by vivid dreams and lucid visions – she is bringing her audience along for the ride.

"Watch Tesha’s Visually Stunning ‘Dreams’ Video"

L.A.-based experimental artist Tesha, aka Neta Elias, today shares the remarkable video for new track “Dreams”, exclusively premiering via Rolling Stone Australia.

The clip — created by audio-visual artist Cloaking — sucks us deep into a wormhole of pure sensory overload, where fast-changing animated scenes fold and mould into the next. Aside from a short interlude of kaleidoscope flowers and tentacle-like steroided plant growth, we’re guided through the water-rippling space by a shadowed protagonist who is shown in various situations that suggest they’re stranded, set on a mission of self-discovery amidst a surreal world where nothing makes sense.

The character’s travels across desolate empty landscapes neatly mimics the music itself, with Elias’ haunting vocals delicately float atop the gigantic, all-engulfing deep groaning bass and re-emerging horror movie snippets that flicker further underneath. Sporadically, Tesha stumbles into the spotlight of decipherability with confident claims that she’s “reinventing the piece of her story”, before retreating and allowing her mumbling harmonies to serve as an instrumental guiding light through the cluttered, ever-changing composition of warped classicism.

Elias says that “Dreams” “formed with no clear structure but to deliver a sense of realisation”, constructing the song by “mixing multiple metaphors and experiences I’ve had within my dreams. It represents the moments when letting go of pain through the understanding of surrounding magic and creation.”

“Dreams” features on Tesha’s debut EP Dreams Vol. 1, available now. - The rolling stone

"Experimental electronic artist Tesha arrives in an alluring, ghastly shadow with 'Funeral' [405 Premiere]"

Tesha is rapidly rising, and there's no mystery as to why. Having released her first EP in 2016 to small audience, her fortunes seem certain to greatly improve with Growing Pain II.

If only it could have been under better circumstances. Tesha's latest songwriting is inspired by the death of her parents, as well as a move from her lifelong home in Tel Aviv to the bizarre meccca that is New York City.

Having discovered a talent for music largely via her mother's piano as a child, the loss of such a figure left an emptiness in her musical life, necessitating the power of her new work.

And powerful it is. Despite having cut her teeth on influences such as Laurie Anderson and Kate Bush, Tesha's music shares more in common with the stark, foreboding power of Fever Ray.

However, Growing Pain II is something all her own, there is no real pinning Tesha down. - The 405

Bio

TESHA (Neta Tia Elias) is a musician, producer, and singer raised in Tel Aviv and is currently based in New York City. TESHA’s dreamy soundscapes have landed her impressive gigs at legendary venues such as the Cameo Gallery (NYC), SoFar Sounds (Seattle), Pianos (NYC), Kung Fu Necktie(PA), and upcoming multiple appearances at the prestigious CMJ Festival in New York City.

TESHA’s recent touring of the United States preempts the anticipated release of her debut album, Dreams Vol. 1. With an established US following, TESHA hopes to find a record label to pick up the album.

Dreams Vol. 1 was produced by TESHA and Noam Helfer of the band Helfer. The album was mixed by Roi Avital (Garden City Movement), with mastering by the legendary Matt Colton (James BlakeSBTRKTLapalux). The album’s unique shadowy and airy sound is orchestrated by the use of multiple foreign objects, all carefully layered atop flowy instrumentals. TESHA’s voice draws the listener into her dream world, made up of light and shadows, spiritual visions, and the unknown.

Dreams Vol. 1 acts as a soundtrack to TESHA’s dreams, a thoughtful and textured space that is brought to life with rich instrumentals and iridescent vocals. This creation of a fantastical space is meant to urge listeners to acknowledge the creative capacity of their personal realities.

TESHA is highly involved in every aspect of the creative process, from producing her own tracks, shows, cultivating her own image, and creating her own musical content.

She had just returned from 5 SXSW showcases....and will be going on the DREAMS VOL.1 tour in the upcoming summer.
