"Premiere: Tessa 'Black Water'"

Drake and all his success has really put the spotlight on music artists coming from Canada. Tessa Gooden is a Toronto native whose name I’m sure you will be hearing a lot of in the near future. Tessa didn’t always live in Toronto, her younger years were spent in Ontario where she learned to play the cello and train in classical music. After some time in school she gave acting a try before deciding to stick with the music. In 2015 she joined the Cornerstone Lifestyle Collective (well known in Toronto) and her music career has been on the rise ever since. Fresh off a U.S. tour, Tessa is ready to premiere her 5 track debut ep titled Black Water via. RESPECT.!

Tessa’s versatility is on full display from the first to the last record on this project! With a perfect mixture between R&B and rock, Tessa defintely adds both those elements on this ep. On Black Water all 5 songs bring a different vibe but still blend together flawlessly. There is only one feature on this tape and it is from her good friend, DEP BCS, another member of the Cornerstone Lifestyle Collective. Aside from rapping, Dep, is a full time producer and has recently been working with the One Umbrella record label. This EP is definitely a solid entry onto the music scene for both Tessa and her Collective. If they continue to put out solid projects like this I’m sure 2016 and beyond will be nothing but success. "USA TOUR DIARY"

Immediately after our performance we hit the road back to Dallas to catch our flight to Las Vegas. When we arrive, the city is LIT, and it is still warm, so I am a happy gal. Vegas definitely takes the cake for most interesting characters ever. If you have been there, I am sure I need say no more. The views of the mountains are also so beautiful.

During our time in Vegas, our amazing friend Matt Murray was there to be our guide to the very good times along with his wonderful brother Stirling. It is nice to have guidance on where to go when you’re in such a touristy city, and Vegas can be a little overwhelming. Especially when in extreme fatigue mode. - Our Crater

"R&B Singer Tessa Hits the Road for American Tour, SXSW"

Sudburians know Tessa Gooden as an actor in the YES Theatre company and as a cellist with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra — but she'll soon be known to a much wider audience.

The R&B singer has just kicked off a US tour, and she's slated for a performance at the wildly popular South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival in Austin, Texas.

Gooden has been living in Toronto for the past couple of years, working in the service industry and grinding it out as a musician to make herself known.

When she was recently tapped by a music company from Tampa, FL. she said the call had her screaming.

"I was working at the time and I got a voicemail, and I — it's pretty much in the movies, when you see someone do a crazy dance and jump up and down ... it was pretty overwhelming!"

As for that SWSX performance, Gooden said she's "pretty floored" by the opportunity.

"I've always wanted to go ... just to even be a part of the craziness that is that music festival, and now to actually be a part of it is, like, beyond me!" - CBC

Bio

Tessa Gooden has always had major musical influence in her life. At the age of 13 she began to play the cello and train in classical music leading to performances with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra. After attending Laurentian University for Music, she moved onto acting and performing in musicals with YES Theatre (HAIR, Rent, Spring Awakening, Jesus Christ Superstar), Thornloe Theatre (As You Like It) and the Sudbury Theatre Centre (The Drowsy Chaperone). She and the YES Theatre crew also sang back-up for Juno Award winners ‘Marianas Trench’. Wanting to try something new she has began to explore writing original music over the past 3 years. She has released two RnB singles ‘Pressure’ and ‘No Justice’ (produced by Grammy nominated Tony Fadd) and just returned from a three week American tour promoting original music, for which she also received grants from the SOCAN Foundation). Her first EP ‘Black Water’ will be coming out in late April 2016.
