Bio
Born out of the music rooms of Ballarat, Tessa & the Typecast have fast become one of the most talked about bands in the music industry in Australia. Moving to Melbourne in 2009, the band diligently paid their dues playing every Monday or Tuesday night opening slot they could get, honing their stagecraft and building up a set that saw them pick up supports with Little Red, The Vasco Era and Kate Miller-Heidke. Upon the release of their debut single ‘Painter’ in late 2010, they were immediately picked up by Triple J and XFM in London. They were personally selected by Kate Nash to support her on her Australian tour and a residency at the Grace Darling Hotel in Melbourne saw the venue sell out every night and the band room floor require reinforcement. Featuring lush melodic intricacies played by Pat Morgan on guitar and Lauren Meath on electric cello, with Melbourne’s hottest rhythm section drummer Ed Crocker and bassist Tom Petit; front woman Tessa Pavilach who, with her Cheshire smile, incomparable vocal elasticity and beauty, charms crowds and has entire venues swooning. After continuing to sell out more and more performances the band ended 2011 with a an EP co-produced by Ricky Maymi of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, a Video clip for hit single ‘Painter’ directed by Academy Award winner Leo Baker, airtime on BBC radio London and plenty more adoring fans flocking to every stage T&TT play, counting themselves lucky to catch this act in such intimate spaces.
