From seemingly two diametrically opposed backgrounds, TG1 was formed in 2004 as a testament to its very name, where unity resides in diversity.
Daniel Cortez [Manley], hailing from Wichita, Kansas and Mzuvukile [MZ] Patiluko, from post Apartheid South Africa, met in Los Angeles to form this rap duo; and, they are currently at the helm of their debut release, The Genesis.
90's Hip Hop (The Golden Age) is what has shaped TG1 as rappers. Diverse cultural music from Kwaito ( South African house/hip hop) to names such as U2 and Bob Marley are what have influenced their poetic writing style.
TG1 is interested in the advancement and maturity of hip hop. Their desire is to influence culture for the good, for the positive. TG1 speaks passionately from the soul and goes against the grain, boldly! With artistic expression in a day where originality is seldom seen, TG1 communicates hope and enlightenment.
