Haberers Start Own Record Label

Take two brothers, a mic, a music production program and a tight knit local clique of hip hop addicts, but hold the bling for now, anyway.
Scott (T-Tocs) and Mark ($hort$top) Haberer believe they hold the key to their future, a destiny controlled by their love of the urban music genre and their new label, Addic Records, based, for the time being, out of the living room in the Belfast apartment they share with their mother. The Allegany County lifers say they started the label to support the sizeable local scene and hopefully launch themselves and a roster of others into the national spotlight.
The release of their first sampler "Addic Records Presents: It's Now Official" in local music shops and online April 12 marks the beginning of their music career and the culmination of years of writing, composing and networking for hip hop in "A-County," as they affectionately refer to their homeland.
"We aint got much, man, but what we got, we work with it, you know?" Scott said. The duo has been laying down beats and polishing vocals for demos with a professional software program on a computer since 2002.
Both say they latched onto the art form while they were growing up.
"Everything, man, I just put it all into writing," Scott said.
"There's so much you can do with (music)," Mark agrees. "Whatever's on your mind and chest, you just put it to lyrics."
They said music really helped them cope when their father left the house when they were very young. But, both say they benefit now from the economical and emotional struggle he created.
"I just think that if my dad wouldn't have left, we wouldn't be where we are now," Scott reflected. Their mother, Nancy, remains their biggest fan.
Though both men have had run-ins with the authorities, they say that just comes with the territory.
"Hip Hop is like 'live it.' Basically it's a culture in the form of poetry," Scott explains. They hope to offer the outlet hip hop provides to other local talent.
The label has made connection as far south as Georgia and east as Brooklyn, but plans to keep the label based in Allegany County with the possibility of expanding the roster to include local punk acts.
"We haven't been anywhere but here," Scott says. "We wouldn't want to make it big and then just forget where you come from."
After the sampler hits the shelves, the brothers plan to release their own full-length debut and they hope to perform live more in the future. It's a grassroots operation for now, but success is the only option for the gritty, profanity-heavy stylings of the Haberers.
"We're just too committed," said Scott. "We've worked so hard and come so far."

We are Tha Addic Fam. We are located in Western New York (WNY). Based out of a small rural area called Allegany County New York aka A-County. Were not just a group, we are a movement. Gathering all up and coming REAL & POSITIVE INDEPENDENT Hip Hop artists and R&B artists from local to across the globe. In search of new ADDICS, talent, places and faces. Our goal and mission is to be heard all over, to spread the word, to reach out and to change the world in the form of REAL POSITIVE music. We all work together to help better eachother. It's not about money, cars, jewelry or whether or not we sign that MAJOR deal, it's about the LOVE of MUSIC and living our lives to the fullest. It's about doing something positive for not only us but our family, all the children, friends, the critics and GOD.
Tha Addic Fam. was created back in 2004 by T-Tocs N $hort$top or better known to some as Scott & Mark Haberer. It's a family full of Addics who are addicted and just love music. Music is apart of life. The genres of music you will hear from us are mainly Hip Hop and R&B. Tha Addic Fam. members come from A-County New York, North Carolina, NYC, New Jersey and even one member was born in Africa but now resides in NY. He is currently the only R&B singer in the Family.
All of us addics have been writing, producing, making beats and recording for a number of years. We have put together mixtapes and albums locally and on the internet for a number of years. You have those artists who come into the game who are already rich and have loads of money at that fame status already when Hip Hop comes from poverty and less priveledged places and people who practictly come from nothing to something. That is real and that is what we represent so we stay true to ourselves. We bring a positive feeling to life and this music industry which I think is what sets us apart from other bands, groups and artists. There is alot of fakes and negativity in the Hip Hop industry and we are going to change that once we are in deep.
