"INDIE ARTIST THAAHUM HAS MUSIC THAT MAKES YOU LISTEN IN THE NEW SHOWTIME SERIES “LOOK”"

Indie film maker Adam Rifkin is at it again, this time bringing an intriguing look at the world thru the lens of a surveillance camera with his indie flick turned Showtime series “LOOK” (view “LOOK” trailer). Thaahum, having worked with the filmmaker over the years on projects including Dark Backward 15th Anniversary DVD and National Lampoon's Stoned Age, was thrilled at the chance to create music for the compelling series that has everyone not only talking, but looking.

Shot entirely from the point of view of the security cameras. Adam Rifkin’s “LOOK” follows several interweaving, storylines over the course of a random week in a random city. “LOOK” is a film about the things that people do when they don’t know they’re being watched. Based on the premise that everyone has secrets, “LOOK” takes us on a voyeuristic journey into the most personal parts of ordinary people’s lives. Everyone is guilty of selective deception. “LOOK” poses the question: Are we always alone when we think we are? (A Look behind LOOK:http://barryschuler.posterous.com/a-look-behind-look-part-I)

In the same capacity that the movie uses surveillance of the seemingly obvious to funnel out life’s hidden moments, or so we think, the self described conscious rapper uses his music to bring an awareness to topics outside of our normal realm of consciousness. With seven of his songs selected for placement in the series, Thaahum is excited about what the marriage of indie artist and indie filmmaker mean for artists trying to take their message to another level and bring awareness of serious topics through entertainment. As the film’s writer/director, Rifkin appreciated the raw reality of the rapper’s music : "It's always a pleasure working with Thaahum. His songs really helped bring in the feeling of what I needed for the series. He's got a gripping appeal that gave the project a raw real voice.”

Preparing to release an upcoming mix tape series of motivational hip-hop titled “Inspiration on Fire: The Abundance Album, the emcee is excited to be a part of Rifkin’s latest offering. “It's an honor to e part of such a groundbreaking series. I would have never expected to get my songs in a project like “LOOK“, but that really shows Adam is a creative genius with a wide vision and open to giving an indie artist a chance to be seen and heard."

On 10/10.10 “LOOK” debuted in with the #1 Neilson ratings for its time slot this year on Showtime and will also be available on iTunes soon.

Bio

Christian “Thaahum” Abrokwah Bio

Christian’s unique style makes him a much needed artist in the music industry. He describes his style as supraliminal Hip Hop; “supraliminal” meaning beyond the realm of consciousness, to induce a sensation. That is exactly what he does in his music. Noticing a gap between the positive sounds of underground Hip Hop, and it’s more popular mainstream counterpart, he’s always had a vision to bridge the two. His ability to smoothly put positive words to commercially appealing beats make him that
bridge between underground and mainstream Hip Hop. Sticking true to his vision he picked the alias “Thaahum” as his artist name which is a cuneiform word meaning intellect.
He has done custom songs promoting projects for some mainstream media such as View Askew Productions, Sony Home Entertainment, Rosario Dawson’s graphic novel, The Occult Crimes Taskfore, and National Lampoon’s. He has worked with such industry talent as multi-platinum producer D-Maq, former Rocafella Records artist Amil, Imani Coppola, and film writer/director Adam Rifkin. He also licensed a few of his songs or the Showtime series “Look,” which debuted with the number one Nielsen rating for it’s time slot on October 10, 2010.
Hearing about his positive music, mentor and film producer Don Boyer, placed Christian’s song “A Matter of Choice” in his film The Power of Mentorship (2007), starring Bob Proctor and Marie Diamond from the hit movie The Secret. Shortly after the film was released Christian got the idea to put out his own project similar to the Secret and the Power of Mentorship that would be geared for the Hip Hop audience. He thus came up with the Inspiration on Fire mixtape series, in which he describes as “a musical journey in the subconscious mind to unlock ones’ deepest potential.” For the series he interviewed writers with different spiritual backgrounds asking their perspective on personal development. Their answers are then mixed in with songs he wrote on similar topics. The mixtape se is available now on Thaahum.com. His current album, Monsters Ball, is available now on iTunes and at Thaahum.bandcamp.com.
He further bridged the Gap in his own hometown's music scene by creating and featuring in the first all conscious HipHop cypher video called "The 2013 Arizona Inspiration on Fire Cypher, which has received over 3,000 views and climbing on youtube.
Most recently his music was liscened for the January 2013 Showtime series "Reality Show."
The independent artist also moves to inspire and heal on and off the mic as well. In January 2009 he received his level one certification in a spiritual healing art called “The Language of Hyperspace,” a healing modality founded by Stewart Swerdlow of Expansions Publishings, which involve mind pattern analysis, dream analysis, and healing through the use of color, tone, and archetype symbols. Besides emceeing, he has also done freelance journalism work for various publications, including having his own column, “Keneteph’s Korner,” on film writer/director Kevin Smith’s site, Quickstopentertainment.com.
