Bio

Mixing Hip Hop, funk, jazz, and reggae with punk rock attitude, Tha BNVz have spawned a whole new sound of soul through music and rhymes. With melodic hooks, enchanting melodies, captivating rhythm, and mind-boggling rhymes, Tha BNVz (tha Beats ‘N Verbz) are quickly gaining respect as Pittsburgh’s premier Hip Hop band.

Founded in late 2004, by Marcus Harris (vocals) and Paul “Kinase” Eppes (bass/vocals), Tha BNVz began performing at Pittsburgh house parties and local bars. Building a name for themselves with their unique blend of music, in March 2005 they won the University of Pittsburgh Battle of the Bands and a spot at Pitt’s spring festival, Bigelow Bash. Tha BNVz put on an electrifying hour long performance in the rain and got rave reviews from newspapers and magazines after opening up for The Starting Line, M.A.E, and Pittsburgh’s Kiss FM96.1 disc jockey, DJ Bonics. With a growing fan base and demand, Tha BNVz decided to go in the studio after only 3 months of being together. In April 2005, Tha BNVz released their 16-track debut CD, aptly titled, “We Blowin’ Up” and sold over 100 copies in the first weekend.

Armed with talented musicians and charismatic performers, nationally recognized artist such as, the Heiruspecs, have praised the band for their versatility. “We do it all,” says front man, Marcus Harris. “We play all types of music and combine them. We do acoustic sets with beat boxing, covers, original music, slam poetry sets, slow jams, dance music, we host open mics and MC battles, and we do it all well.”
