Growing up in New Orleans,LA(aka the Murder Capital Of The World),you gotta learn how to stay on top of things.Tha Cartel, a hip-hop duo consisting of Snakeyez and Lefty da GoGetta know all about that. Being from different sides of the city(Snake is from the Michoud section New Orleans East and Lefty hailing from Algiers on the Westbank of New Orleans),they found friendship during their high school years. Both had a passion for rapping, but were always solo artists. After graduating high school, they decided to come together and take the city by storm.

Growing up in New Orleans East, Snakeyez has seen it all. Living the "good" life as they call it, but always keeping his feet planted in the downtown hoods of the 7th Ward (St.Anthony & Marais) and 9th Ward (Montegut & St. Claude). He always had a supporting family, yet no real father figure and looked up to his older brother for guidance(R.I.P. Verdo). This allows him to be able to speak on both the hood and middle class sides of life and it shows in the music. Also, spending time around his cousin-in-law C-MURDER and the No Limit Empire at its peak helped him learn the ins-and-outs of the industry and music in general, furthermore honing his skills as an MC.

Lefty da GoGetta had a modest upbringing in Algiers. Being raised with his family in Uptown New Orleans (Marengo & Magnolia), he was always the independant one,he never asked nobody for nothing and if he needed something he went and got it himself. That's how he got his moniker "da GoGetta".He is the epitomy of a hustler and a hard worker. After recording his first song with his cousin Shanka in 2003,the rapping bug bit him and created an epidemic. Ever since,he's been taking the rap game by storm. From winning freestyle battles at Dillard University(as a visitor against DU's reigning Freestyle Champ) to going in the studio with the best of them and delievering the most potent of lyrics with his unorthodox flow, its clear to see why he has been a fan favorite of the underground scene.

Ever since 2003, Tha Cartel has been on a steady climb in popularity and respect in New Orleans and surrounding areas. From opening up for artists such as Curren$y,Jay Electronica, Big Sean, Mickey Factz, Dom Kennedy, Stalley, and Chip The Ripper, to being nominated for Best Group as the First Annual NOLA Underground Hip Hop Awards following the released of their critically acclaimed "Young N Reckless" EP. The future is looking brighter and brighter for the N.O. born-and-raised duo, and there's no stopping them now.
