Tha Don Benedetto was born in Toronto, Canada on December 3rd 1989, into a very artistic family. His father, uncle, and cousin are musicians and his mother was an actress. His earliest memories are of listening to The Beatles, Brahms, Earth Wind and Fire, and Snoop Dogg. His music career began when he recorded an “original song” in his father’s studio at the age of 5, playing drums and singing. It was no hit record, but it sparked his interest in making music. At the age of 8, he and his family migrated to Chicago. This is where his interest in music expanded. He began taking piano and saxophone lessons. It was during high school that he began to explore the art of producing music. “One summer, we drove from Chicago back to Toronto - a 9 hour car ride - and during the entire trip, we listened to Jay-Z’s ‘The Black Album’ and Timbaland and Magoo’s ‘Under Construction, Part II’. After listening to 5 minutes of ‘The Black Album’ I knew I wanted to be a producer.” Shortly thereafter, he started making beats in his dad’s studio. All through his high school years he collaborated with other local artists on music projects & recordings. His obsession & passion for music drove him to Boston’s Berklee College of Music. While there, he studied Music Business. It was at Berklee that he started listening to more Electronic music. Heavily inspired by Deadmau5, he started to produce House and Dubstep. This is where he stands today. “All my life I liked electronic music but it wasn’t until I started listening to Deadmau5 that I realized that was the music I wanted to produce.”
Following in the same footsteps of music moguls Jay-Z and Diddy, he established his own record label and production company, christening it Phantom Enterprise, after Phantom of the Opera - a huge musical inspiration – and Wayne Enterprises of Batman.
