"G Style Magazine Interviews Tha Heights"

The group has a sound that is fresh and inviting, a look that isn’t hard on the eyes. With a hit jingle in the Bazooka Joe commercial under their belt, is this group set for super stardom? We like to think so here at G Style Magazine. Keep an eye out for these guys and when you get a chance go buy some bubblegum!

"Almost Famous - Tha Heights"

In the world of R&B, the cliche, whatever goes around, comes around, could not ring more true. However, Dominican quartet Tha Heights, are determined not to follow in the footsteps of previous bands. In fact, Manny, Sosa, Frito and Winston, look to pave a lane of their own by introducing a new sound. Combining the rhythms of Latin music with the catchy melodies of Pop and the soul of R&B, the Washington Heights, NYC soul singers, have created Latin Pop & B. From performing throughout the New York tri-state area to touring the nation as the official spokespeople for Bazooka Bubblegum, Tha Heights won't stop until they're coined as the international super group. Taking a break from recording their debut Welcome to Tha Heights, ULM caught up with the group as they explained their unique sound and put to rest any notions of boy band comparisons

THA HEIGHTS
BIOGRAPHY

Take a trip uptown with Manny Duran, Rafael Valdez, Carlos Sosa, and Winston Jerez, collectively known as Tha Heights. These four Dominican young men have prepared an eclectic blend of Latin flavor that their Washington Heights, NYC neighborhood is known for they have coined it Latin Pop & B.

Do not be fooled by their boyish looks, these guys are much more than just another boy band--their repertoire consists of a wide range of songs to satisfy almost any taste, and diverse musical influences to match. Sosa was inspired by Donny Hathaway and Celia Cruz, while Winston's inspiration stems from Boyz II Men and Larry Graham. And with Manny and Frito's inspirations coming from Marvin Gaye and Chris Brown, Tha Heights offer a little bit of everything from the very necessary club bangers :iRock and Selfish to their current ballad Never Be Tha Same, whose music video is currently on YouTube. Tha Heights are definitely musical chameleons of the industry.

The group is currently collaborating with songwriter Daniele Stokes member of the 90s platinum-selling R & B group SOLO , Queens hit-maker Jonathan Howard (50 Cent's P.I.M.P 2), Eddie -Lil Eddie-Serrano, Phenom( writer of the current ballad Never Be Tha Same ,soon to be fan favorite from Tha Heights).

In addition to the talented songwriters, Tha Heights have also joined forces with some of most sought after production and industry veterans to date including the music production team of MusicLife Entertainment (singersroom.com), music producers The Arsonists (Beyonce), Producer YoungLord (P. Diddy and Nicole Scherzinger hit single Come To Me), international choreographer Tweetie, Host of MTVs Dances from Tha Hood and industry vocal coach veteran, Ankh Ra (one of the official talent judges-vocal coach for MTVs Making The Band 4), these guys definitely have an all-star team behind them.

Tha Heights signed with Patricia Taylors OFFbeat Entertainment Company in 2003 and have since served their saucy musical blend to audiences throughout the New York metropolitan area. Most recently the group has performed at community and charity events for organizations such as Life Beat, the Ronald McDonald House, and Silent Voices United. Tha Heights have also been featured at the famous 116th Street festival in Spanish Harlem, the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival, and Brooklyn Fashion Weekend. These rising stars have also made guest appearances on Telemundo (Channel 47) morning news, Univision (Channel 41) morning news show, MTVs Dances From Tha Hood (lending their dancing skills to the popular dance show on the web and MTV on Demand) and most recently featured as one of December 2008's W.O.W Spotlight acts on BETs 106 & Park.

Have you heard of Tha Heights? Maybe it was on a Bazooka Bubble Gum commercial when they were the official Bazooka Bubble Gum Boyz from 2006-2008, doing the famous Bazooka Bubble Gum song and dance--with over 1 million YouTube hits to date! Or maybe it was at one of the over 20 special appearances they made throughout the New York Tri State Area in 2008. Nevertheless, this group of extraordinary talents is getting the industry buzzing as they become the next tastemakers of their generation with their raw talent, energizing presence, and cool style.
