Lando Prolific, lyricist: ’70s and ’80s soul and R&B, ’80s and ’90s hip hop. All the greats in whatever genre.

Q: How long have you been in the music business?

A: Lando: On and off since 1998 as Tha Light.

Tez: Been doing music since I was 10 years old, 16 years now.

Q: What’s the most important thing you’ve learned after being in the music business this long?

A: Lando: No ones going to give you anything. You have to take your shot or create one.

Tez: You have to be very consistent and fresh.

Q: What do you think your odds are of making it big?

A: Lando: Great; nobody out of OKC has made it big in hip hop.

Tez: I would like to make it big, but in reality there’s a good chance we won’t. But either way, I do it because I love it, not for the fame.

Q: Is becoming rich and famous your main goal or do you hope to accomplish something else with your music?

A: Lando: We want to be Oklahoma’s global representatives for hip-hop.

Tez: My main goal is to be known for something, like Tupac status, to be remembered.

Q: Most embarrassing or humorous moment on stage or in your music?

A: Lando: Nothing too crazy so far. Just regular stuff like somebody forgetting lyrics or tripping over a mike cord.

Tez: One time, we thought we were performing at a community day event, but it turned out to be a Christian conference.

Q: How is your music helping the world?

A: Tez: Our music shows that you don’t have to rap about drugs and murder all the time. There are creative people out here.

Lando: It’s displaying hip hop in a positive light.

Q: Describe your music in 10 words or less.

A: Lando: The spirit of integrity and intelligence set to music.

Tez: Original, happy, motivational, personal.

Q: What should someone expect if they go see you Nov. 29?

A: Lando: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Tez: Expect a good show.

Q: Anything else?

A: Lando: We the best.

Tez: Get ready for my new mixtape, "The Family Guy,” coming in ’09. Check out my single on MySpace. - The Oklahoman

Bio

The group Tha Light started in Atlanta, GA. Lando and Ennis are the two founding members of the hip hop duo. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lando & TEZ are the current active members of the group. The two family members Uncle Lando & Nephew TEZ hail from the northeast side of OKC, Ennis is from Hennessy, Ok respectively. 2008 marks the 10 year anniversary of Tha Light Foundation as the group takes on a stronger, more worldly form while also taking a more political approach to convey their message of peace, struggle & unity. The music speaks for itself and it says “its only a matter of time before Tha Light shines.” As cliché as it sounds you can hear it….
