The formation of Tha Light started right here in Oklahoma. Lando and Ennis are the two founding members of the explosive hip hop duo. Both born and raised in Oklahoma. Lando is from the Northeast Side of Oklahoma City. Ennis is from Hennessy, Ok respectively. They met at Edmond Santa Fe high school in the 10th grade. Where Ennis was a star basketball player and Lando was already in hot purist of his music career for some years by that time, preforming at local talent shows, school events and local clubs “ remember Generations”.
After graduating high school (both of them)in 1996 ,Lando was the first to move to Atlanta, Georgia where he attended The Art Institute Of Atlanta and studied graphic design. Ennis maintained in “tha O” attending Rose State College. Ennis arrived in Atlanta the following year in 1997. Where they officially form the group we know as Tha Light. While recording music in Atlanta Ennis and Lando worked together at a premiere night club/concert venue “Atlanta Live” were they were able to rub elbows with some of the most high profile celebrities in music history. Artist such as Busta Rhymes, Redman, Outkast, Three 6 Mafia, Raekwon, Ceelo, Da Brat, Mary J Blige, Usher, Organized Noise, they crossed paths with all these individuals only to find out that there just people like us. Same strength ,same vulnerability. That keep them stead fast in their goal to one day become the international voice of Oklahoma.(Tha Light)
Atlanta Live closed down and immediately after that things fell apart financial wise. Ennis return to Oklahoma, then moved to Los Angeles This is where Ennis started bringing all the beats in his head to life. L.A. was the birth place of the official Light sound. Before the group used other people’s beats.
Lando remained in Atlanta to witness the birth of his first child and continued writing and growing as a human being with his new family and home away from home. During the course of this time, Ennis sent beat through the mail and they continue to talk and collaborated on projects up until the point where Lando was driven out of his home due to a noise ordinance. Unforntunally the noise was not music being played too loud.
Once evicted from residence, Lando moved back to Oklahoma City with intentions to relocate shortly there after to L.A. in hopes to reunite with Ennis. As fate would have it, during that time Lando’s Father passed when visiting Oklahoma. Around the same time Ennis moved back to Oklahoma.
So that’s it basically “Tha Light” starts where they began. To be continued...
