"Dre Featured in Austin Fusion Magazine"

AFM: Austin has a deep pool of creative and talented female musicians. How does it feel to be a part of such a special community like that?
DM: “When I got to Austin, the people that were first to volunteer to help me were all female musicians. That really struck me. The female musicians in Austin aren’t afraid of new talent. They see each other as colleagues and friends and resources…not enemies who should be clawed out of the way. There is a lot of support among the female musicians here. It’s this cool little club and I felt extremely honored to have been let into that club with almost no credentials.”

"Dre named Top Unsigned Artist 2015"

AUSTIN TEXAS – JULY 27, 2015 - Singer-songwriter That Girl Dre (Dre Mazzenga) has been named Top Unsigned Artist 2015 Grand Prize Winner by The Recording Conservatory of Austin. Dre's contest videos filmed live at Stinson Studios reached over 25,000 fan views to date. Grand Prize ranking based on fan views and judges input. Award includes studio time with legendary U2/Pearl Jam producer Tim Palmer. - The Recording Conservatory of Austin (TRCOA)

""Fiery and energetic""

"Fiery and energetic...proved herself to be one of the best and striking talents the Live Music Capital of the World can offer. A combination of new and old with a backbone of soul, the inspiring That Girl Dre has definitely made it my list of the top 3 musicians to see."
-Emma Adams, -

""Striking and sophisticated""

“Dre Mazzenga proves herself to be a striking and sophisticated new talent.... In fact the singer/songwriter sounds like her adolescence was often spent within earshot of a rich and varied record collection.” - Donald Gibson,

""Stainless steel pipes""

“...Swiss-army-knife songstress Dre Mazzenga will brandish her cutting lyrics, blunt vulnerability, and stainless steel pipes....Witness the profusely versatile Mazzenga showcase her creative niche–being good at everything.”
-Donny Rodriguez, -

""Breath of Fresh Air""

“That Girl Dre is a breath of fresh air here in Austin. She possesses a je ne sais quoi that makes you want to hop in a vintage convertible, go vinyl shopping together, and then end the day with a cocktail.... The EP is sophisticated, emotional, and inspiring. One can’t help but sing along.” -

""Stylistic comparisons to Duffy, Joss Stone""

“Dre Mazzenga inspires stylistic comparisons to Duffy, Joss Stone and the late Amy Winehouse. 'Do Me Right' brings together soul and pop-rock in a way that recalls Dusty Springfield and Janis Joplin.... In terms of melody 'Do Me Right's retro blend of pop-rock and 1960s-minded soul would not have been out of place on one of Winehouse's albums.”
~Alex Henderson (Journalist/Music critic; Alex's work has appeared in Billboard and Spin Magazine) - Alex Henderson Independent Review

""Ought to remind many of Aretha Franklin's initial Memphis recordings""

“[Bird in the Storm]*...this track ought to remind many of Aretha Franklin’s initial Memphis recordings for Atlantic Records.... Great soul singers know how to raise the roof, as well as make you feel like you’re in an intimately small room with just them. Mazzenga knows how to accomplish both of these highly differing sonic tasks.”
