"Love Matters EP Review"

If tunes like the slap catchy Pedestal and Johanne are any indication, the trio has the necessary sensibilities for picture perfect pop in a harder rock setting. - Jamie O'Meara, Montreal Hour

Feeling a bit camera shy

That Busboy Nelson (ex Bogarts) are an indie pop/rock trio from Montreal, Canada. Members Bruce Carlini (24), Boris Popovic (24) and David Lynch (22) have been playing in various outfits in the Montreal area since their early teens. In February 2002 they formed The Bogarts, a project originally construed after a raucous punked-up jam. They played their first gig later that month as openers for The Slackers. During the summer they toured the Maritimes with Montreal ska legends The Kingpins.

Yet, they were unhappy as undergrads at the Berkely, CA pop-punk academy. In 2003 they shook themselves free of the 'pop-punk' label after realizing their new stuff was much more comparable to The Cure than Screeching Weasel. TBN spent an entire winter writing, practicing and finally took off on their second tour with a setlist they were indubitably proud of. It now consisted of songs that weren't simply dashed off in a half hour.

The energetic, persistent and emotive trio has opened for a number of recognizable acts including Dashboard Confessional, The Oranges Band, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Steriogram, Lo & The Magnetics, Bedouin Soundclash, The Spades, and Ambulance LTD. That Busboy Nelson are currently in the pre-production phase in preparation for their first full-length album (TBA).
