Dynamite Magazin 05/2014 – CD Review

How simple can rock 'n' roll be: 14 songs. Plain but not blunt. Wild and shaky, with a little bit of sixties-garage-style. So good can rock 'n' roll be. Not for no reason the longplayer got the 2930s-quality-seal "rock in hell". That the three boys from Berlin and Dresden don't have to rock alone, there are a lot of excited female fans that travel long ways to see their favorite band live on stage. The 2930s thank them with the song "Bosschicks". But, mind out! This is no girlie music, because The Josh, the Australien singer and songwriter of the band, has a lot of AC/DC in his blood ("So Alone" or "Real Wild Child"). He mixes this up with some ZZ Top riffs and even honors Jimi Hendrix in the ballad "Saying Goodbye". Altogether The 2930s present an album that you can best listen to while cruising through the city with open windows and an arm hanging out. And that their Bosshoss friends Hoss Power, Ernesto Escobar de Tijuana and Sir Frank Doe had their fingers in the pie, doesn't make it bad. - Dynamite Magazine

Bio

“Reaching The Highs / Touching The Lows” is the first full length release by The 2930s. Like the album name suggests, the music is a reflection of life’s good and bad times. A roller coaster ride of uplifting rock and roll mixed with ballads about lost love and dark days.

The 2930s first E.P. “The Ride”, which was released in 2010, received a 5 star rating in Dynamite Magazine for its “mix of blues, garage and rockabilly” and “diversified arrangements far from every standard”.

Receiving a 5 star rating in July 2014 “RTH/TTL”, which was also recorded and mixed at Sonnenstudio, Berlin, the band continues with more punk, garage and 60’s influences in their song writing.

Taking their name from the date of their first concert almost five years ago, in-between his duties with Berlin’s The BossHoss, Guss started this rock and roll trio along side Australian guitarist and song writer The Josh.

Tour highlights have included support shows with Triggerfinger, The Graveltones and The BossHoss, and the band was invited by The H-Blockx to perform at the Redbull Stage at Rock im Park in 2012 and since then the band has performed at Berlin’s Roadrunners Race 61 in 2013 and return invitations to perform Blank It Open Air Festival in 2011 and 2013.

Along with the release of the album “RTH/TTL” two music video single’s filmed by London’s BopFlix and produced by Hoss Power will see the light of day. “From Up Here” and “Real Wild Child” both filmed in Dresden.

The band sweats through a full set of original songs, with only a fine selection of covers to filter into their set lists. Along with their matching stage outfits and on stage rock n roll banter, the band build a close connection with their audience and dedicated fans have repeatedly travelled across Germany to see The 2930s perform.

The band will tour in Autumn 2014 supporting the release of “Reaching The Highs/Touching The Lows” and work has already begun on the next album, set for release in mid 2015.
