(the autumn)

(the autumn) was founded by Chris Shalter in 2012. What began as an instrumental venture with the album, “A Strange, Settling Calm” (described as “Atmospheric and gorgeous. A wonderful accompaniment to scripture-reading.” – Ben Poole, Word4U2Day Magazine), transformed over several years into an atmospheric-style worship combining Chris’ love of instrumental music and his experience as a worship pastor. In 2015, Ali Roth joined (the autumn) and they released a cover of “All I Have is Christ” originally by Sovereign Grace Worship. On June 3rd, 2016, “Power In Your Name,” their first original worship song, was released and was followed by their second single, “In Awe,” on September 9th, 2016. A full-length worship album is in the works with a release towards the end of 2016.

The heart behind (the autumn) is to spread the Gospel of Christ through song. In a world surrounded by music they aim to use their platform to give depth and bring to light the glory, grace, mercy, hope, and love of Jesus.

The naming of (the autumn) is intentional in two ways. The first is that the words “the autumn” describes the season of change in not just weather and plant life, but in our lives. The parenthesis represents “internal.” And so, (the autumn) is the internal seasons of change we go through throughout our entire lives.

(the autumn) is based in Ephrata, PA where Chris is a full-time worship pastor at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene.
