""No Need to Cry" Premier"

Favorite bands exist everywhere. We all have our personal favorites. There is the bar on the corner that has its own favorite bands, who play every other week to the same loyal patrons. There are city favorites, where people will gather at the local watering hole, the country fair, or the municipal theatre to see them perform.

Then there are bands who have a region-wide following, in some cases they could be the unofficial “state band”. Captain Ledge Band is one of those groups. Based out of Wilburton, Oklahoma and comprising of Cliff Downing, Jeana Coleman-Downing, Lonnie Lay, and Justin Joslin, Captain Ledge Band are a genre-blending band who combine country, folk, bluegrass, and southern rock music. Think of them as more folk version of Tedeschi Trucks Band, and it is easy to understand why they are a favorite in the southern states.

Today, we have the privilege of sharing the band’s latest single, “No Need to Cry”. The melody of the song may sound familiar (from Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive”), yet it has been further stripped down and given a blues-folk flair. The song’s theme could be the sequel to that hit single from nearly three decades ago, as the band speaks of redemption and second chances. It could be the anthem of a fallen hero who has returned for one last opportunity to make things right and reclaim his name. It could be an anthem for all of us who are seeking that one chance to find hope and glory.

Hear “No Need to Cry” below. The single is from Captain Ledge Band’s forthcoming album, Rumors of the Great White Skunk, which will be released on Friday.

Bio

Considered folk, Americana, country, or  bluegrass The Captain Ledge Band is first and foremost family.  Husband wife Cliff and Jeana Downing began performing together somewhere around eight years ago, and the music family has grown to include Justin Joslin and Lonnie Lay.  The band's four part harmonies  combined with the string quartet of two guitars. mandolin, and acoustic bass gives that feeling of home listening to their music.  Inviting and honest, The Captain Ledge is what the listener hears in their soul regardless or genre.

"Rumors of the Great White Skunk set to release May 2016 was the result of a connection made in in New Orleans with representatives of Sweetwater Studios who approached the band after seeing their showcase performance at the House of Blues,  The he Louisiana Music Factory and Bamboula's in the French Quarter during the Cutting Edge Music Festival and Conference in 2015.  As a result the engineers at the Grammy winning studios in Fort Wayne, Indiana took the music and completed the final mixes and mastering of the upcoming sophomore release by Tje Captain Ledge Band.
