"No end in sight for this story"

Lance Eckensweiler the voice behind "The Ending To This Story", and resident of Port Elgin, played a great show at his CD release party at Lakeshore Recreation Friday evening. With opening performances from the local talents of Mary Cassidy and Midtown Cross, it was an evening of great music and good company. The room was packed by the time Eckensweiler hit the stage to debut some of his new songs from his recently released album "The Phoenix". Guests commented on his music, saying he's "Unreal" and "Un-matchable". Believe it or not, The Ending To This Story only consists of one member. Eckensweiler writes his own music, plays guitar, bass, drums and sings lead. - The Shoreline Beacon

"....pristine presentation displaying good, memorable songwriting."

“The Phoenix” opens with the title track, featuring an acoustic rhythm guitar and a lead electric guitar. Lance Eckensweiler’s good vocal presence and fine combination of instruments is evident from the beginning. The drums stand out well, especially during an intricate, intriguing bridge section full of vocal harmonies. ‘The Cost of it All’ evokes mature lyrical content; Eckensweiler excels in his musical environment, one that may too exposing for other artists. Again, the drums are solid, and this developed, practiced song was impressive all around. ‘Wolves Around Your Neck’ was unique and softer than its predecessors, and featured a positive storyline.

Each of the songs from this album mesh well as individuals, and together as an album as well. ‘Oh Winter’, the lead single from this record, was again soft, featuring an excellent vocal performance and a piano that fits perfectly. Overall, this was a pristine presentation displaying good, memorable songwriting. ‘Well Meet Again in Time’ closed the record with unique, interesting lead guitar patterns and strong vocals. This song summed up the album well and gave resolve to each of the musical avenues “The Phoenix” explored. Each chorus on “The Phoenix” was gripping and impressive, and the lyrical content is mature throughout. The album is also unique in that an acoustic guitar does all the rhythm work, while a electric guitar lays down lead lines. This EP was a very strong offering, highly recommended to readers of this blog. - Tom Lohrmann Music

"TETTS is hotter, grittier, and better than ever."

The Ending To This Story’s Lance Eckensweiler is back on the scene with his new EP, “The Phoenix.” While we waited a year for this sophomore release, the time in between has proven to be time well spent. TETTS is hotter, grittier, and better than ever. Eckensweiler has clearly grown as an artist, and within five brand new songs, we are treated to a more mature side of TETTS.

Title track “The Phoenix” sets the tone for the EP. The song is a fiery bundle of energy, reminding of us why we fell in love with The Ending To This Story in the first place. The relatively acoustic track is accentuated with light drum pats and the occasional electric guitar. Otherwise, the song soars with Eckensweiler’s gruff vocals. The harmonious vocals define the opening track, but in “The Cost Of It All,” Eckensweiler shows off the power in his voice. Wailing most of the notes, Lance shows that he can hang with hard rock’s leading men (think the edge of Dave Grohl with the pop appeal of Rob Thomas).

The poppiest track of the record may be “Wolves Around Your Neck,” even though it’s probably the most geniusly written. Eckensweiler takes the whole Red Riding Hood idea to the next level with this clap-along track filled with thought-provoking lyrics. The chorus is dark, yet the delivery is fun.

The EP concludes with two ballads. “Oh, Winter” was released earlier as a single, and for good reason. The emotional ballad is a gorgeous acoustic track, sprinkled with tear-jerking piano and violin. “We’ll Meet Again In Time” is more of a love song–or at least a “missed connections” song. It doesn’t have the same level of emotions in “Oh, Winter,” but it’s a beautiful track nonetheless. Eckensweiler sounds breathtaking in the chorus, making the song that much more romantic.

The Ending To This Story impresses with “The Phoenix” EP. Despite being an acoustic record, “The Phoenix” covers a spectrum of sounds, where no two songs sound the same. From edgy to romantic, The Ending To This Story pulls out their bag of tricks to show that acoustic music isn’t going anywhere. - Truth Or Sarah

""...incredible live.""

The Cost Of It All was one of those songs that caught my attention right away. All of Lance's songs are so beautifully written, not to mention incredible live. But, The Cost Of It All was a song I could not shake out of my head after hearing it for the first time. It is a song that you will wake up singing...literally. - Amy Blackwell - Basement Entertainment

Bio

Originating from the small town of Port Elgin, Ontario, The Ending To This Story has broken into the alternative music scene with a force since forming in mid-2011. While listening to TETTSs emotionally charged music you would never believe that the band consists of only one member, Lance Eckensweiler. This talented musician not only writes his own music but also plays guitar, bass, drums and sings on all recorded original songs. TETTS is not your average acoustic show. During live performances Lance uses loop pedals, prerecorded backing tracks and various other effects while he plays guitar and sings, turning a one man acoustic show into full blown musical act.

TETTS's use of loop pedals and backing tracks sets him apart from other acoustic acts allowing him to perform at many different venues throughout Southern Ontario over the last couple of years. The Ending To This Storys exposure was increased when he toured the East Coast of Canada playing shows in Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He has opened for Teddy Geiger at Torontos Virgin Mobile Mod Club as well as played many other venues including The Opera house and The Hard Rock Cafe.

The Ending To This Story released a full length album entitled Prologue (recorded by Lance himself) in July 2012 and has just released his new EP, The Phoenix, July 26th 2013.
