"DANCE AND CREEP BACK WITH THE FIELD RECORDERS (@THEFIELDREC)"

I found out about Chicago-based band The Field Recorders after interviewing Left Handed Wave and him telling me that they were all he listened to.

Despite having a rather small following, the output of the indie rock / dream pop group has been rather prolific, releasing one full-length (Love Triangle) and one EP (Creep Back) within the last year.

Electronic and stuck on the dance floor, the music by The Field Recorders might fit in a same playlist as Junior Boys or perhaps (some of the tamer) music by The Rapture. If Wildcat! Wildcat! had to cover New Order.

Short and to the point, their newest four song EP (released less than a month ago) is teetering with the past and the future. The vocals are crisp and the synth lines are hypnotic. Get down and break an ankle to “The Edge”; fall in love during the switch-up on “The Outside / Raindown.”

I haven't given their full-length a good listen yet, because I've been enjoying this EP and I need to conitnue to properly digest it. Once that digestion has happened, I anticipate diving headfirst into their 13 song debut release, Love Triangle. Let us know what you think in the comment section below. - Mishka NYC

Bio

5/1/15: Following the release of their second full-length album, Love Triangle (10/14), The Field Recorders release the Creep Back EP.

Relying equally upon drum machines, synthesizers, their trusty Moog Theremin, and more “traditional” instruments, Chicago-based band The Field Recorders have crafted a distinctly entrancing sound.

Life-long friends Shehzad Choudhry and Sunny Desai have been making music together for over a decade composing, producing, and DJing. When Desai met singer-songwriter Daniel Robbins while in graduate school, the three became fast friends. Occasionally collaborating together over a two-year span, the trio began to take shape in late 2012. From there The Field Recorders were born and the songs that would comprise their debut album, The Field Recorders, came together.

The band has called Fort Knox Studios on Chicago’s northwest side home since December 2012. They keep everything in-house, electing to record, mix and master the music themselves. Choudhry puts it best when he says, “Essentially, field recording is capturing the sounds of the environment around you. We just happen to make music in our environment.”

The Field Recorders music is available through online media outlets including iTunes, Google Play and Spotify.
