Still working on that hot first release.

Feeling a bit camera shy

The Floodgates launched at the beginning of Summer 2013. Originally a folk rock duo, they are now a four-piece acoustic rock band, comprising Martin Stenning, Tim Fullbrook, Eden Fish and Alex Wane.

Influences include Mumford and Sons, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Buckley and Tom Odell. They all hail from the London commuter-town of Tunbridge Wells. The Floodgates now feature both acoustic and electric guitar, drums/cajon, bass, piano and three vocal lines.

At just 17 years old and still at school, Martin Stenning on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, writes songs from the Red Walls of his bedroom with all the conviction of any Dylan number. I started playing various instruments at the age of six, having gone through the oboe, drums, piano, bass and guitar.

I only started dabbling with the idea of songwriting at the beginning of 2013 and alongside Tim we started with a few cover videos on YouTube.

After a morning spent busking in London, they were invited to play at the open day of Heavyweight boxing champion David Hayes gym, leading them to play gigs at venues including Il Vesuvio Restaurant, ColdHarbour Festival 2013, and headlining 'Show Us Yer Guns' at The Tunbridge Wells Forum.

In September 2013, Martin and Tim were introduced to percussionist Alex Wane and pianist and backing vocalist, Eden Fish. Feeling the restrictions of being a folk duo, Martin jumped at the chance to create a fuller, bigger band sound and The Floodgates full lineup was born.

With their debut EP, God Knows, due for release in Spring 2014, festival performances and a debut headline mini tour all in the running, 2014 is set to be an exciting year for The Floodgates.
