"LA Weekly Review: The Fontaines"

L.A.’s bright pop hopes The Fontaines continue to evolve. The brother-and-sister duo in just a few short years have moved beyond the simple charms of their early recordings into a more versatile and emotionally deeper brand of pop. Guitarist Hank Fontaine provides much of the musical backing as sister Charlotte coos delicate ballads such as “Pitted” and such harder-rocking interludes as “You Want It All,” from the pair’s recent Playgirls EP. The Fontaines’ new follow-up EP, Playboys, ranges from fuzz-shrouded rockers like the title track to such dreamier interludes as “Bully,” in which Charlotte Fontaine’s delicate vocals drift airily over Hank’s blurry, grandly orchestral strumming. Headliners Romance & Rebellion have a peppier indie-pop approach, although they’re ultimately more earnestly romantic than truly rebellious. - LA Weekly

"Exclusive Premiere: The Fontaines' "Evaporate""

While most songwriters tend to err on the side of burning romance, deep-rooted love, and inconceivable heartbreak, The Fontaines keep it real real with today’s premiere of “Evaporate.”

Infusing a healthy dose of dynamic funk to their signature new-wave, rock-influenced sound, the LA-based sibling duo chronicle a “catch and release” relationship–a bold reminder to said partner that their interactions can only go as far as the bedroom. Hank Fontaine contributes bouncy guitar lines while Charlotte Fontaine keeps us in check with her teasingly flirty vocals, both backed by Chrystian Kaplan on drums and Daniel Zuker on bass. Charlotte shared on the meaning behind “Evaporate,”

“‘Evaporate’ is about that guy you don’t wanna tell your friends about. It isn’t love, but both of you keep it going anyways."

The Fontaines are currently finishing up their debut full-length album, set for a late 2017 release. In the meantime, your exclusive stream of “Evaporate is below! - Ones To Watch

"Music Monday: Meet The Fontaines"

Lamar Dawson, Contributor.

Boys and girls, your spring anthem is here and you have The Fontaines to thank.

Known as “the hardest working band” on the LA-scene for their funk-inspired indie rock, this brother-sister duo should be on your radar and your Spotify listen-on-the-way-to-the-beach playlists immediately.

On the heels of their successful 2016 EP, ii, the band’s latest single is ”Evaporate” and it’ll have you tapping your feet at your desk or imagining you’re walking down a runway during Fashion Week (depending on when you listen to it).

"TIDAL Rising: This Week's Artists to Watch"

Brother-sister duo Charlotte Fontaine (vocals) and Hank Fontaine (guitar) lead this up-and-coming indie band based in Los Angeles. In 2016, The Fontaines made a name for themselves performing at music festivals such as Savannah Stopover, Canadian Music Week, Broke LA and Make Music Pasadena. Recently described by Oh My Rockness as “One of LA’s hardest-working bands,” the band is currently working to follow up on the success of their 2016 EP, ii, with their forthcoming full-length debut. - TIDAL HiFi

"26 Brilliant Songs You Need In Your January Playlist"

This is another very good getting-over-negative-relationships song. Plus it could realistically be about bad friendships as well as bad romances (there are not enough songs about friend breakups). AND it’s catchy as hell. - BuzzFeed

Bio

The Fontaines are a new wave rock band based in Los Angeles, California.  Charlotte Fontaine (vocals) and Hank Fontaine (guitar) began writing songs in 2014.  The siblings are joined by Chrystian Kaplan (drums) and Daniel Zuker (bass).

February 2017 saw The Fontaines drop their debut single "Evaporate," which has been streamed hundreds of thousands of times and has received airplay on commercial and satellite radio as well as bringing The Fontaines to The Troubadour for a sold-out headlining performance in support of their dual EP releases, "Playgirls" and "Playboys."

On May 17, 2018 The Fontaines will be releasing their most anticipated single yet, "Freak," the band's fourth release of this year.  "Good Times," "Between Us," "Beso," and "Freak" show off the group's sultry, indie tinged rock sound with a pointedly cohesive and confident direction.  Coming off two sold out performances at The Troubadour and appearances at SXSW 2018 and the Spring 2018 High School Nation Tour, The Fontaines are preparing for a headlining show June 21 at The Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles.  On January 11, Stryker named single "Playboys" his 4:20 Pick of the Day on legendary LA radio station 106.7 KROQ FM.
