Bio

In summer of 2014, singer/ songwriter Frankie Jason Turner moved from his suburban Detroit home to a small apartment in New York City about six blocks from Central Park. Recently signed to BMG/Chrysalis Music Publishing, he made the trek to see the music industry up close and hopefully find a place for his personal brand of songs.

Out of the time he spent throwing himself against the overwhelming monster that it is Manhattan came the EXILE NEW YORK EP, available Nov. 29th by Turner's band THE GENTLEMEN MUTINEERS. Recorded in a studio in midtown, EXILE NEW YORK is a dark, acoustic Americana EP that mixes old school blues, soul and country with modern recording techniques.

The four tunes are both personal and universal lyrically, revealing a search for ones space and purpose against a complicated past, an unseeable future, and all the temptations of the world.

RATTLE THE CAGE is a song about the struggle. Against a singular blues guitar riff, the song is driven by quickly spit lyrics that deal with what happens when the ghosts of the past clash collide with hope of the future and the confusion of how to move forward.

SCORCH THE EARTH is about the courage it takes to walk into a relentless world that seems to be falling apart.

DEVILS DOWN is a personal biographical song. A bluesy dirge over stomp/clap percussion, it tells Turner's story from teenage father of two to manual laborer to New York City songwriter and the push/pull of the past and personal demons

LET THE SUNRISE EARLY is a line by line account of a drunken night alone in a New York apartment. A song written in gap between night and morning when the city is at it's quietest and your brain is the loudest.

THE GENTLEMEN MUTINEERS will follow up EXILE NEW YORK with an EP that adds a full band with a horn section to Turner's soul singer-songwriter roots music.
