"This is the first time that I’ve done a Cherry Cola review and had actual trouble seeing the stage due the brood of people twisting and dancing about. It’s so fucking refreshing to see a group of spectators actually getting enough into the music they came to see to mosh and bop to the tunes. The band was really tight, they sounded really crisp, the rhythm section had a good thump to it, the guitar sounded splendid and the saxophone player wailed. These guys had the look down, but, they boasted more than enough chops to back it up. Their electric instrumentals and covers of surf classics had the room pulsating. Who needs Jack Rabbit Slims? We got Cherry Colas." ~ Jordan R. Clarke - Punks Don't Think
This is the debut EP from this powerful Canadian quintet. The Gnarly Ones' aesthetic suggests a metal or punk influence, but this is pretty straight surf, maybe with a mean face on. They've even got a ballad in there with "Pontiac Sunfire", though the rest are loud, pounding, and dangerous. It's very well produced, sounds great when you turn it up, and the saxophone definitely adds but doesn't overpower. - Storm Surge of Reverb
