Toronto trio The Good Boys released their debut single I’m Not Pretending on iTunes yesterday! Recently signed to Culvert Music — a new Toronto imprint that formed in April of 2013 — the group have some exciting things ahead of them. With a full length album coming in early 2015, The Good Boys showcase a straight-laced approach to their tracks along with releasing clean-cut, catchy pop-rock songs, making us eager to hear more. Toronto’s The Good Boys have premiered their new single “I’m Not Pretending”, via A Music Blog Yea?. Fans can also grab the track for free through the band’s Facebook page in exchange for a ‘Like’ here or for purchase on iTunes here.
“I’m Not Pretending” is a flawless rollick through golden age AM radio, bubbling with catchy hooks, it is reminiscent of the classic Merseybeat hits that ushered in the British invasion in the early 1960s. The single heralds the release of the band’s debut album via Culvert Music in early 2015.

The Good Boys are currently prepping their debut album for release in the new year, but Exclaim.ca is pleased to give you a first look at the band's new video for "I'm Not Pretending."
Inspired by the glory days of AM radio, the Good Boys are a throwback to "a time when a dapper group of men dressed in suit jackets and neckties could turn a room of well-behaved teenagers into a teeming frenzy."
Based on that description, it may be surprising to some that the new three-piece consists of Burlington, ON hardcore band I Am Committing a Sin members Andrew Basso, Daniel Tremblay and Paul Marc Rousseau — the latter also known for his work with Silverstein.
But for the new project, they've fully embraced the feel-good sounds of sonic innovators like the Beatles and the Beach Boys, delivering what they describe as "clean-cut, catchy pop-rock songs."
The new clip is set at an old-school cocktail party and proves that they've still got some bad boy edge, but the song is all wholesome fun. Watch as the tattoos are traded in for suits, tightly slicked back hair and chainsmoking that would make even Don Draper proud.

Nostalgia, an obvious influence on the band’s beginnings, marks more than a fondness for the era of A Hard Day’s Night and Pet Sounds. Beginning in early 2013, Andrew Basso, Paul Marc Rousseau, and Daniel Tremblay (all formerly of I Am Committing A Sin) resumed an all too long hiatus of collaborative songwriting. With a breadth of individual talents and proficiencies, The Good Boys offer a dynamism well suited to rock and roll. With lyrics simple in sentiment if complicated by an unavoidable cheekiness, these songs both are smart and funny—always catchy—and harken back to a time when every member of the audience was on their feet, showing their adoration for the band by wearing the soles of their saddle shoes thin.
