Classically trained musicians and composers Cameron Graves (piano, guitar) and Taylor Graves (piano, drums, vocals) have combined their considerable talents as The Graves Brothers (TGB) a new ensemble in which theyve created a unique sonic experience. One that is, at once, saturated with spiritual knowledge, layered with classical overtones and jazz harmonies, and driven by fearless rhythms. When asked to describe their sound, both agree that only one word accurately defines their music and that word is progressive.
All one needs to do is listen to their self-titled debut album (The Graves Brothers, released March 2013) to hear musical influences as diverse as Bach and Beethoven, as smooth as Marvin Gaye, as pioneering as John Coltrane and as lyrically beautiful as Stevie Wonder with a decidedly ambient and ethereal feel.
The brothers have already made quite a name for themselves in the music industry as founding members of The Score, core members of Miles Moselys popular West Coast Get Down, playing with Thundercat and with Jada Pinkett-Smiths sublime metal band Wicked Wisdom.
Following in the footsteps of their father, Carl Graves (whos smooth single "Baby, Hang Up the Phone" was a Top 20 R&B hit in the 70s and has worked with numerous artists including Dave Mason, Skylark, David Foster and Oingo Boingo), becoming professional musicians was a natural progression for The Graves Brothers.
