In Montreal, Thursday, July 25th in the cabaret of the Fibs, lover's audience of beautiful music

To bring into the world new compositions and to announce to all the publics of their treasures, the Brother Guissé became nomadic and "globe-trotters" of the art in the only purpose to deliver their message of peace and love. They like the direct contact with all the public. They embroider (exaggerate) the words and the expressions, they weave all the continental tones and extra(special) continental and they dress in the diversity of all the cultural expressions without distinction of languages(tongues), without discrimination melodic and without difference for the rhythms the density of which they master with suppleness. They travel on all the time zones and cross all the cultural wefts just like the composition of the rooms in which they occur, they attract so much. -

The Guiss Brothers

The Guiss Brothers take inspiration from a variety of Senegalese and West African cultural traditions, which bring power, depth and beauty to their music. Aliou, Cheikh Tidiane and Ousmane Guiss hail from the Fouta region in Northern Senegal where the Senegal River flows, carrying with it a rich musical heritage that includes, among others, West African artists Ali Farka Tour, Kar Kar (Boubakar Traor)  and Seydina, all of whom have influenced the Guisss.

The Guiss Brothers quickly won fans outside Senegal and have been touring around the world for ten years. Three albums have been released in Africa which was equally successfull. The album Yakaar (hope in peulh) is their first worldwide release. With there songs of peace and brotherhood, sung mostly in the peulh and wolof dialects, the Guiss brothers take us to a warm and gracefull place.

Two guitars, breathtaking vocals, and charmingly subtle percussion make for a delicate and truly enchanting album. Pulsating or serene, the music is alive with vibrant colors and emotions. Reflecting traditions, yes, but also the brothers open-minded approach to music. The Guiss Brothers have created a singular album of rare beauty.

In Senegalese folk music, alongside with Ismal L or El hadj Ndiaye, you will have now to reckon with the The Guiss Brothers.
