Bio
The Initiates is an electronic pop duo consisting of Jonathan “Jib” Wallace and Navaneethan ”Nirun” Sivabalaviknarajah. Both originally from Peel Region, Canada, the two met while working downtown Toronto. They crossed paths for almost a year before discovering their shared love for music and deciding to start a band. They began having jam sessions in 2016 and before long jam sessions turned into songs. “I take the melodies and beats Nirun produces with his synths and drum machines when we jam then I go to my studio, add chord progressions, lyrics, and vocals” says Jib.
The Initiates are preparing to release their EP, 'First Steps' this fall. Their sound is a combination of Techno/House music and Pop/R&B vocals. Jib, a former professional dancer is looking forward to translating the music into live performances, “A big part of what we want to share is in our live shows. Between playing instruments, DJing, singing, dancing, and visual art we're able to create unique entertainment that showcases all of our gifts".
