The Kid DT

Darrion Turner, who goes by the stage name "The Kid DT", is a young man born outside the city of St. Louis in a small town called Centreville, IL. He is the third child born out of five(3 sisters, 1 Brother). Growing up he always had a love for sports and music. His mother constantly played R&B and Gospel while his father introduced him to hip hop. He also had a love for reading and books which expanded his mind and imagination. He then moved with his mother to Chicago, IL in 2001 when he was 7 years old and though he was not ready for such a big move, the impact it had on his life was tremendous. Between 2001 and 2011 he moved around a lot and never really settling at one spot for a long period of time. He went to various elementary, middle and high schools before making his last transfer to a school called Austin Business and Entrepreneurship Academy in which he attended for 3 years and graduated from with honors. He then decided to work for a couple years before enrolling in college at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville where he attended for a year.

The Kid DT started writing music in 6th grade as he found he had a passion for it though basketball was his first love and remained his first love until December of 2012 when music overpowered basketball. Writing and recording songs with his childhood friend, Spright, gave him the confidence to keep pursuing a career in music. Going through heartaches and the pains of losing friends and family members and him studying the works of artists such as Tupac, Big Sean, Logic and his all time favorite J. Cole fueled a fire in him to which could not be doused down. Looking for a shine in the darkness is what keeps this kid going. Being that shine in the darkness is a goal in which he hopes to become.
