Bio
Michael Gieseking, Bass / Vocals
Michael grew up with a natural draw to music although he was a late bloomer to the music scene as far as playing any instrument was concerned. His first experience was in school playing the clarinet….until he got his hands on a bass and he was hooked. After the usual apprenticeship he has gone on to play with various bands and has opened for such icons as Honeymoon Suite, David Wilcox, Colin James and B.T.O. He enjoys all music genres & plays them all but especially loves the blues. “My job is to be the part of the rhythm section that builds a strong foundation.", and that he does with gusto. Michael enjoys writing, arranging, recording, riding his motorcycle, photography and his family.
Cameron Colburn, Drums / Percussion
Originally from St. Catherines Ontario, Cameron spent his formative years on Canada’s west coast absorbing Victoria’s vibrant music scene. While there he worked with a wide range of singer-song writers and various bands and immersed himself in all things music. He eventually found himself in Ontario and continued his studies, continuing to perform with a variety of talented musicians playing rock, metal, folk, jazz, classical however he always had an affinity for the blues. One of the biggest thrills for Cam is to play energetic music for enthusiastic audiences and it is a pleasure to have him join our group of experienced musicians in the band!!!
John Godek, Saxophone / Vocals
John is a veteran performer from Hamilton, Ontario and has worked with many of the finest musicians in the area since his high school days. He attended Mohawk College, Sheridan College, and McMaster University. John's musical experiences includes jazz, blues, classic rock, classical music, musical theater, and rumor has it he even came out of the closet and proclaimed to be a fan of country music (gasp !!). His musical influences include Illinois Jacquet, Dexter Gordon, Boots Randolph, David Sanborn and Eddie Cleanhead Vinson.
Norm McCabe, Guitar / Vocals
Norm stole his first guitar from a gas station at 2 years old. He was headed down old #3 highway when his grandfather found him and made him return it. He wouldn’t touch another guitar for 13 years. Norm has played in original and cover bands, while teaching privately and pursuing music education. A graduate of Mohawk College and McMaster’s music program Norm had the opportunity to study with Geoff Young and Bob Shields on guitar. Norm is excited to take his inquisitive approach in the direction of vintage blues with the MMB.
