"Gimme A Visa album review"

(Translated from Danish): "It's about three years since the last album from Monk Batucada. Leading the Copenhagen-based underground band, venturing in the outskirts of jazz and hiphop, we find American bassist Gasoline Monk. The album is a mixture of slightly psychedelic jazz funk, with a smell of 70's being played live. It's collective grooves grow and spin around. There's also a more modern style, where a heavy round of avant garde EDM is introduced, like on the drumparty track Ndogo..." - JazzNyt

The Monk Batucada is a psychedelic samba jazz band led by Boston producer Gasoline Monk. Beginning in 2015 as an experimental studio project, Monk played all the instruments on their debut EP Doces. Soon after, Monk linked up with Danish drummer Lucas Nygaard and began a journey over the following years of playing and recording extensively with a lot of Denmark's premiere young jazz musicians.

The band has played Distortion Festival and Copenhagen Jazz Festivals, as well as scores of clubs and venues from Copenhagen and Aarhus to Boston and Manhattan. Gasoline Monk returned to Boston in 2016, but the band has continued to release new music and continues to perform on special occasions.

In September 2019, the band will release a new album, Sugar Cubes & Ink, and get together again for another batch of shows. The Batucada has evolved year after year and shows no signs of slowing down. One of the primary characteristics of the band is adaptation and improvisation, and every new set of circumstances has provides creative spark rather than becoming a roadblock.
