Bio

The Mourning Thieves is the brainchild of singer, songwriter, and musician Jesse Henson who has been a member or collaborator on a wide range of bands and musical projects over the years.  Mourning Thieves is intended to serve primarily as a vehicle for Henson's own solo work, which tends to be organic, with a more accoustic, raw sound than many of the projects he has collaborated on.  Mourning Thieves is also intended to serve as a community for Henson to collaborate with other artists while maintaining full creative control, as well as a base for his commercial songwriting efforts.

About Jesse Henson:
Jesse Henson is an accomplished musician (singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer) who began playing music in his early teens for the sole purpose of creating his own songs.  He was raised in the south, but refused to be confined to any particular genre.  Rather, Henson has appreciated and absorbed music of all kinds from rock, country, alternative, folk, indie, soul, R&B and pop to create a sound all his own which relies heavily on rhythm and melody. He lives in Panama City Beach, FL with wife Andrea and two daughters Emma and Lola.

Henson has been involved in musical projects and bands since his early teens, ranging from cover bands to serious studio bands (when he was 15 years old Henson joined a project named Xush which was comprised of far-older accomplished musicians... his sister had to drive him to practice because he wasn't of age to drive).  Later Henson was a member of alternative rock band Audiofile circa 1999-2000.  The band wrote and recorded several songs, but failed to form a complete band suitable for live shows.  More notably, he was the front man of indie/experimental rock band Gloribox from 2004-2006.  He was lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter.  The band cultivated a small but loyal following and and played gigs along the Gulf Coast before disbanding in 2006.  Gloribox released a concept EP entitled "A Daydream (or a fever)" in 2005 which featured 5 songs all of which were either written or co-written by Henson, as well as 4 supplemental experimental tracks designed to lead the listener along a journey through a dream-like state of semi-consciousness weaving through music.  Other members of Gloribox:  Tobby Lykins, Jamin Finlaw, Scott Maynard, and Jess Lobdill.  "The Inventor" was the only track released by Gloribox post-Daydream EP.  The vast majority of the band's material went unreleased.

Henson also collaborated briefly and sporadically with electro-punk/pop duo Electronic Sulking Machine (ESM).  Primarily the brainchild of Tobby Lykins along with collaborator Rob Winder, this project was full of fun, yet dark and raw explosions of electro-pop energy.  Henson lent support to the project through production notes during studio sessions, some vocal production and assistance, and laid a few drum tracks.  To date, ESM has released a few songs including cult favorite "Easy".

More recently Henson has once again collaborated with longtime friends Lykins and Finlaw (DJ Jinlaw) on a project called French Canadians.  The sound is very much a collaboration of EDM as well as organic instrumentation and sampling, solidified by Henson's distinctive vocal approach.  The band released their debut song "Radiation Love" in the fall of 2014 and is currently working on additional material.
