Bio

The Movement is one of the top new acts coming out of the Atlanta Underground Hip Hop scene and they have gained unbelievable momentum in just one year of constant performance. They have been making music together, however, for a lifetime and could very well be on their way to becoming a household name. They have played almost all of Atlanta’s underground venues, with rave reviews. They have also been booked to bring their sound to many other places in the nation (ie. Denver, KCMO, Las Vegas, Morristown, NJ, etc.). Denver was a great success, as they opened up for Wu-Tang’s own YDB and brought their own crowd to the show. They travel with a DJ and a Drummer and have created a full show (complete with back flips, dances, surprises, audience participation and more), which is unlike any other “rap” show. The energy these guys bring to the stage, is amazing and it leaves the viewer wanting to see more!!

The Movement consists of two blood brothers. “Same mother different dad, same gutter different past”- quote by Guala Kartel. They were raised by a single mom who struggled to find opportunity and stability during the majority of the first part of their lives. Front men Mic.ollins and Guala Kartel were left home alone together many days, (while mom was at work) and without cable or a telephone, they wrote songs together, doing their first recording as early as ages 9 and 10 years old.

The Movement has a very unique and diverse sound. With influences from Gang Starr to Coldplay, Billy Idol to Toni, Tone, Tony. Their mother was an avid music lover (from 1980’s New Jersey) so they grew up with a palate for “special music” that speaks to the soul. Their message is equally compelling, making music for the everyman, who fights the good fight daily. However, the perspectives that each of them bring are totally opposite. Mic.ollins (the big brother) was a school boy/athlete. He was all state, all region in football and basketball and nearly broke his high school track record, running the 400. He also earned a football scholarship to The University of West Georgia, where he played as a free safety. Maybe he missed out on some of the wild times that he could have had, if he were not himself. He was a diligent student and was taught to always look after his baby brother. But that was not easy because Guala Kartel was born a natural thug. He dropped out of school and ran with the bad crowd, did the wrong things and eventually landed himself in jail. Until 2012 when his middle school sweetheart (also incarcerated) gave birth to a son (a namesake), who died in his sleep, at one month old, of SIDS. This was the year that everything changed for Guala.

They were raised the same but they bring two different perspectives of the same experiences, which has never been done before. They’re almost like fraternal twins…..different dudes completely, yet they speak to each other subliminally. They are in one another’s heart and audiences love to see them vibe together!

The Movement resumed recording with producer Bolo da Producer (some credits are 2Pistols, Doe B and Shannel) in 2013, on a new mission and with new focus. The goal: to go with their lifetime love (music), to get their sound out to the world, to relate with and Move people! They do a lot of shows for events, and venues have booked The Movement because of their awesome sound and energy that they bring when they perform. Look and expect big things from The Movement, as we will see a lot of event planners start to book The Movement for shows throughout the nation and around the world.

The Movement is looking for compensated gigs, but in certain cases they will play for free. Both Mic.Ollins and Guala Kartel, have already arranged our travel means (Delta- fly anywhere for free) and can draw crowds in most major cities of America.

When you are ready to book The Movement for your event, submit an inquiry and we will work with you to help make your event a success.
