Bio

The Ocean Party started hundreds of miles from the sea and possibly even
further from a civilised music town. Not that Wagga Wagga isn't civilised
but its citizens are way more known for their sporting abilities than their
musical abilities. This is probably why all the members of the band took the
train to the closest city after high school and never returned. Lucky for
them it was Melbourne!

Since moving to Melbourne in 2009 the band have made two records, The Sun
Rolled Off The Hills (2011) and Social Clubs (2012).

While a few members have been lost on the way the band are now a solid
foundation of five. They are; Lachlan Denton (Guitar / Vocals), Jordan
Thompson (Keyboard / Vocals), Liam Halliwell (Guitar / Bass / Vocals), Zac
Denton (Drums / Vocals) and Curtis Wakeling (Guitar / Vocals). Similar to
bands like Teenage Fanclub and the Beatles (well maybe not Ringo), every
member of the band is a songwriter.

All the members play in other bands and if you've ever seen Velcro, Mining
Boom. etc etc etc you've indeed watched an Ocean Party member doing their
thing.

The new LP Split started coming together following the Social Clubs tour.
After the tour finished and Curtis returned from NYC the ocean party found
themselves with a swag full of songs and new outlook. After getting the
songs together for the new album the band packed up the van and headed to
Tarcutta in NSW to record at Lachlan and Zac's grandparents farm. With a
move away from the traditional idea of Lachlan Denton being the lead singer,
the band moved towards a totally Split approach with every member of the
band writing and singing their own songs.
