"Martin England retools career and releases album with The Reconstructed"

It’s been five years since Martin England released his solo debut, “Razed and Reconstructed.” A half-decade is a mighty long time in a world fueled by a “what have you done for me lately?” type of sentiment. Especially given that that particular album was one of the best to come out in 2010.

Over said span of time, England decided that the whole “solo” thing wasn’t what he was seeking and somewhere along the line he literally reconstructed his musical existence and pieced together a band, which is conveniently named The Reconstructed. On Friday, Sept. 25, Martin England & The Reconstructed will in present their very own folk-rockin’ Americana-tinged debut, “Dawn Chorus.” And what a debut it is. The celebratory release gig is happening at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth.

“Dawn Chorus” is a significant sonic shift for England. The songwriting remains true to what we’ve come to love about England’s pen pushing sessions, but the music itself is an awakening. The three-part vocal harmonies from England, Jesse Dold, and Courtney brocks are stunning. The rhythm section of Sean Daniels and Andrew Russell move foundations. Sure it took five years, but the time took to craft, care, and contort the tunes we hear here make it all very worth it. “Dawn Chorus” is a career defining moment for all involved. - Seacoast Online

"Introducing Martin England & The Reconstructed"

Do you miss good old-fashioned storytelling and gentle Americana, folk, rootsy country-rock melodies? If so, feast your eyes and ears on Martin England & The Reconstructed. Their songs are soothing to the soul. I would say that these are songs of love, but they’re not love songs. Not quite. They’re more the ruminations of relationships come and gone yet still lingering, remembered as if it were yesterday yet viewed from a distance of both time and place. There’s gentleness and gratitude mixed with disquieting feelings, nighttime anxieties and wistful regrets. These are personal stories, emotionally charged yet with a mature insightful wisdom. - Boston Survival Guide
