Bio

The Southern River Band formed earlier this year as the brainchild of multi instrumentalist Callum Kramer and have already proven they are one of the most exciting new acts in Perth.

Influenced by only the purest rock ‘n’ roll bands of the 70’s and 80’s, from timeless melodies by Bob Seger and the Eagles to heavier riffs in Van Halen, bassist Anton Dindar, rhythm guitarist Jason Cagniglia and drummer Carlo Romeo that make up The Southern River Band all share the same musical taste and vision for the band. They have constructed songs that tug on the heartstrings and contain electrifying solos that you can’t possibly stand still to.

The Southern River Band have already played to and won over audiences at full capacity venues like The Odd Fellow Bar and the Indi Bar. They have received praise from national touring blues act Blue Shaddy and have been hinted at securing some high profile support slots around Western Australia with them in the very near future. Notable bands they have supported are Red Engine Caves, Morgan Bain and Dirtwater Bloom.

The Southern River Band’s musicianship, amusing yet slightly irreverent mentality and stage presence continue to charm everybody they play to or that hears about the band. They are well received by any crowd at any given venue at any time.

Below is the front man’s summary of The Southern River Band and the world,

“In a world where starting off a biography with "In a world where" is the norm, The Southern River Band are apparently no different. In the very same world, where labelling oneself is encouraged, where being able to describe one’s style is expected, The Southern River Band neither know, nor care how to fit themselves into these pigeonholes. Head south on Perth's so-called "Freeway", jump on Roe Highway, Hang a right on Nicholson Road, go through the busiest roundabout in Australia, and you'll find yourself in Thornlie, the home of The Southern River Band. A country town in the heart of the suburbs, where the jukeboxes stock very little other than the very same songs you would've heard reverberating out of them in 1970's. They say you're a product of your surroundings, who are "they"? Nobody knows. But, they're not far wrong. You're bound to find one of the boys recycling their spare change, putting on 'Come Back Again' for the 3rd time in the space of 4 hours on any given Friday arvo.”
