After a bunch of sloppy punk demos, the twinkling, extra-indulgent disco sound that The Spark Three craft arrived as a palate cleanser in the best way. On first listen, it seemed as if the group did a cram session with Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, but then again, there's enough in the way of strong melodies here to make me overlook the similarities. The scratch guitar and rolling bass line of "Under the Sun" make for an instant party, while "Theme A" buzzes with some dirty low end and a dreamy, hyper-infectious chorus. The Spark Three is a new electronic dance duo from San Diego, CA. The duo is the collaboration of producers Mango Jennings and Radd Pulse. Upon hearing the band, it's as though you may have just walked into a bass thumping basement discotheque in Paris. They take the French dance sound and look to create an American equivalent that is just as smooth and catchy. Their live set consists of a blend of original songs with intermittent mash-ups of past pop-hits. Formed at the end of 2013, The Spark Three are looking to debut a four-song EP in the summer of 2014. They have already received praise for their two songs "Under the Sun" and "Theme A." The Spark Three are creating the next generation of nu-disco dance hits.
