"The Stir's Debut EP Proves a Bit Tenacious"

==============
I hope The Stir’s collective sense of humor allows the fellas to forgive me for making what seems an obvious comparison to that of the duo led by Jack Black and Kyle Gass and billed as Tenacious D. Now, by making this comparison, I’m not suggesting that The Stir is a comedic band. That’s certainly not the case, though the guys are a riot on stage. For me, this comparison is really about the harmonies and song craft.

Like their more famous Hollywood doppelgangers, The Stir’s John Ashton Randolph and Steven Brann write and deliver compelling and passion-filled material (minus any mentions of demons). And their harmonies and musical timing offer more evidence of the true talent, brotherly bond, and deep commitment to the music the two share. The Stir’s newly recorded works illustrate these points well. Seeing them perform live only further ‘amplifies’ your appreciation for what these two have to offer.

While it is quite tempting to conclude this unabashedly positive review with a line from... say, The Pick Of Destiny. I’ll end by simply encouraging you to check these guys out. It just might exercise your inner demons.

Bio

One of Oklahoma City's newly formed music duos, The Stir, has wasted no time in diving head first into the local music scene. Performing a laid back, edgy style of Acoustic Rock, Pop, and Americana, The Stir began appearing regularly at many of Oklahoma City's popular restaurants, coffee shops, bars and clubs, as well as performing at a couple of benefits and music festivals.

 Stir members, John Ashton Randolph and Steven Brann, first met while in the Air Force together back in the 90's. In fact, many of their musical influences have come from many of the popular bands from that era such as, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Gin Blossoms, R.E.M., and Filter. Influences that are obvious during their live performances and tend to seep into their original music as well.

The Stir recently released their first EP of original material, full-band version, that they wrote, performed, recorded, and produced themselves utilizing the still popular music software, "Garage Band." With current plans of increasing out of town shows, The Stir hope to continue to build their following and network with other bands and industry professionals in the hopes of finally being able to make music more of a full time endeavor.
