Bio

Australian rocker David Farrell and Maritime folk artist Janet Mills team up for a new shade of genre on the folk/rock colour wheel with duo The Strange Valentines. Based in Regina, Saskatchewan since 2016 their strong melodies, soulful stories, quirky humour, and rich harmonies, has been described as if the Kinks jammed with Fleetwood Mac using only acoustic instruments. With both members sharing lead and harmony vocals, David’s warm, engaging voice might make you think of Tom Petty or Bryan Adams; Janet flies somewhere between Sarah McLaughlin and a saucy Karen Carpenter.

David Farrell is an accomplished guitarist previously part of the Australian rock circuit, touring and opening for such major acts as INXS and Canned Heat. Janet Mills was born into Nova Scotia kitchen parties and plays mandolin or Irish bouzouki. The two met in Atlanta and struck a chord. The duo has been entertaining good folk ever since.

Their fifth album ‘Society of Good Intentions’ released February 14, 2018, inspired a Good Intention tour that reached out to the UK and Maritimes, with a crazy stopover in Australia. Sixth album “Odd Angled Love Songs for Humans” is being celebrated and released June of 2019.
