Bio

Toronto roots-rock band The Strangemakers--Alex Perry (vocals, guitar), Tom Perry (bass), Chris Lyttle (drums)--want you to sink into songs of longing, love, and what it is to be young and nostalgic in a modern city.  Hauntingly beautiful at times and mysteriously hopeful at others, The Strangemakers’ music engages the difficult aspects of the human condition and uncovers thoughts and feelings perhaps long forgotten. Their soon-to-be-released first single, “Wait,” produced by Dave Ritter (The Strumbellas) and John Dinsmore (NQ Arbuckle, Donovan Woods) at Toronto’s Lincoln County Social Club, is an intimate and vulnerable in its description of romantic love at its most wonderful--and at its worst.

The founding members of The Strangemakers--husband-and-wife Alex and Tom Perry--first connected over their love of classic songwriters like Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Etta James and Joni Mitchell. Now with drummer Chris Lyttle, The Strangemakers’ music is a is a sweet blend of singer-songwriter, classic rock, and alt-country--featuring dynamic highs and lows, a powerful voice and front-and-centre lyrics. Lyricist and frontwoman Alex  Perry is particularly interested in exploring and representing Canadian history, mental illness, and the female experience in her lyrics, writing open and emotional material that aims to to connect with people experiencing heartache or heartbreak.
