The Tiny Musician

Loops, improvisations, and a violin... Three elements that normally are not presented simultaneously on the stage. Determined to change that, Joana Carvalhas decided to create an innovative project that changes the musical stigma associated with the violin as she explores this new approach. 

Her project Indoor Thoughts ventures new timbres and textures, where the listener will hear improvisations on top of different harmonies and rhythms percussed on her instrument. In some moments, she even uses her voice to complement original compositions and give them a more ‘human touch’.

 Using a loopstation to create diverse layers of sound, she paints unique landscapes allowing the audience to travel into dreamy places and realities. Her expressive violin performances sync with the listeners' emotions cultivating an audacious performance that amazes the audience while providing an unforgettable sonorous experience.
