Bio

The Wonderment Project is an eclectic Bay Area band formed in 2016. Often characterized as “space rock,” their work combines elements of grunge, alternative, punk, new wave, and experimental rock. Their songs are haunting and hard-hitting, and encompass a wide spectrum of themes ranging from altered perception to space-time travel to social critique. TWP is comprised of two guitar players, Brody Bass and Rich Wells, bass player Erinn Wilkerson, drummer Keenan Tuohy, and singer/ keyboardist Ian Ettinger. The band is constantly innovating and experimenting with new sounds, tones, and textures to explore new conceptions and heights of what rock and roll can be. Heavily influenced by music from the ‘60s all the way to the present, and particularly by bands like The Beatles, Radiohead, The Mars Volta, The Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix, Traffic, Muse, Rage Against the Machine, and Pearl Jam, their diverse range of influences comes together into a potent, alchemic mixture of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s with today’s music. The result is a form of rock and roll that is very unique and pushes the boundaries of musical innovation.

The themes of space, time, perception, political awareness, and the disruption of the ordinary gradually began to take shape in the first songs composed by Ian and Brody, which included “Face in the Crowd,” “A Colorful Prisonhouse, “Temporal Anomaly,” “Space Ride,” Radio (Welcome to the Spectacle),” and “Falling Thru Paisley,” and as Erinn and Rich joined the group these themes expanded to incorporate the dystopian yet hopeful sounds of “All I Know” and the politically-charged space rock epic known as “Duty Bound.” The thread of creative social commentary and critique that began with “Radio (Welcome to the Spectacle)” continued with TWP’s December 2016 release, “What Did You Expect,” an exploration of some of the darker aspects of contemporary society, particularly mass surveillance and other forms of social and political control.

TWP is currently in the planning stages of their first full-length music video for “A Colorful Prisonhouse,” to be released in June 2017, and has begun a series of singles releases, booking scores of shows all over the Bay Area. TWP also founded a charitable/ activist organization called Bay Area Bands Together, which hosts shows dedicated to charity and community empowerment, and is currently in the planning stages of a summer music festival called SquidFish as well as a west coast tour. Their first EP will be released mid-summer 2017, with a full-length album “In Transit” on the way in early 2018.
