Bio
The 8th Street Band is the backbone of POWER Movement Entertainment (PME), a new direction in Hip-hop and R&B in southern California's Inland Empire. POWER (Positive Organization With Everlasting Respect) Movement Entertainment is a network of artists from California to New York. The 8th Street Band serves a dual role as the west coast representatives of PME and as a live band backing PME artists in clubs and studios.
A versatile, multi-genre band, 8th Street performs live throughout SoCal and in the studio with featured artists, including Chosen F.E.W., (PWDC), Shamroccus, Stico & Da Bandit, Toke Da Smoke, and more. With this stable of artists, the line-up provides live entertainment for most venues. The 8th Street Band specializes in turning independently produced tracks into instrumental performances, adding live flavor to studio productions.
A STREETZ is the drummer for the 8th Street band, co-founder/owner of PME, and more. He is a host on internet radio (harlemlanesradio.com), an independent producer, and solo performing artist. LIONEL LAST and SID DAMAGE are the other California partners in PME. SID, on guitar, and LIONEL, on bass, have been performing together for over a decade and with A STREETZ since 2004. KARAZ and DAXA of Chosen F.E.W. joined the collaborative movement at this same time. Influences range across the musical spectrum, from the Roots to Primus, Miles Davis to Mos Def. Genres include hip-hop, R&B, rap, rock, reggaeton, and jazz.
The band took a hiatus from 2007-10, to welcome new family members and focus on further professional development. Since 2010, the 8th Street Band has been developing working relationships with local venues, managing PME, and continuing to reach out to new artists. PME and the 8th Street Band have become heavily involved in internet radio (harlemlanesradio.com), social media (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace), video production (via YouTube), and community service (www.icpa-ca.org). Currently planning a coast-to-coast, multi-state "Make A POWER Move Tour" for summer 2012.
