THE ACCESS

The Christian alternative rock band The Access is emerging onto the national music scene in a big way, recording a new album with acclaimed producer MD Thompson and performing for members of the music industry during GMA Week in Nashville.
The five-member band, which describes its sound as a “radical embodiment of praise and worship,” features lead vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Justin Michaels, bassist/back-up vocalist Terry Cardwell, guitarist Nick Daniel, guitarist/back-up vocalist Winter, and drummer/back-up vocalist Kyle Mason Hall. The Access is represented by Indie Extreme and managed by Mark Silvestri, founder of the Houston record label R.A.W. Music Group.
Founded in Mont Belvieu (Baytown), Texas, in 2006, The Access is using its music as “a tool to wake up and breathe life into a sleeping church, igniting a generation of dry bones.” Band members say they believe music is the most powerful way to get people to join together with one heart, one mind and one voice.
“Our passion is to bring a uniquely fresh sound to the body of Christ and the world through music,” Michaels says. “On and off the stage, we want people to see Christ Jesus manifested through us. We believe that no matter how long you live, you can never experience all that God is, so there’s always more of God to experience... to access.”
Maranatha Church in Mont Belvieu was the principle conduit for connecting band members Justin Michaels, Terry Cardwell, Nick Daniel, Winter, and Kyle Mason Hall. All five musicians eventually performed with the church’s Power House Youth Band. Feeling called into the music ministry, Justin encouraged Terry and Nick to form The Access in summer 2006. Kyle and Winter joined the band a year later.
Success has come quickly for The Access. The band received international exposure in 2008 by performing in the Indie Extreme Independent Artist Showcase during GMA Week in Nashville; opening for Dove and Grammy-nominated recording artist Leeland Mooring in Humble, Texas; and appearing on the Music Boat. The act also has played to packed houses at venues across Texas and Oklahoma.
“We not only want our listeners to enjoy our albums and live performances, we also want to inspire our listeners to really chase after God,” Daniel says. “We want people to know they’ve just had a new experience with Jesus Christ in a way they had never thought was possible.”
The group recently recorded their debut album with Houston producer MD Thompson of
